Need to Charge Something? This is it

By   on  Verified Purchaser

With technology creeping, well, slamming into motorcycling I was always carrying additional power bricks to charge my phone, headset, whatever needed charging when I wasn't near any power outlet. Did a lot of "window shopping" reading reviews, ordered a couple of USB charger options that were either too bulky or just plain "cheap" and didn't look like they would hold up to real world motorcycling environments. Then I saw the Read Innovations Dual USB Charger. Read some other reviews and pulled the trigger. I was not disappointed when I received it. Robust rubber cabling, NOT PVC. The same material covers the "brains" of the dual charger so there should be a long life. The dual USB cables are plenty long. I have the unit connected to a SAE cable connected to an aux power box under my seat. The power is "switched" so I only charge when the key is on. The control module is next to my aux power block with one cable routed up to the handlebars and the "spare" neatly tucked under my pillion seat - ready to use should I want to, need to charge something while rolling down the highway. I can pull the spare out, route it into my top or side case and charge away. The USB port routed to my handlebars is used to keep my phone charged. The mounting "bits" worked for my purposes with a flexible "bracket" that wraps around the handle bars and secured with the provided zip tie. Attached to the bracket is a cradle that gets attached to the bracket via a screw with a nylock nut. The USB port slides into the cradle and can be popped out of the cradle if needed. Double-sided tape is provided to use so the bracket doesn't rotate around the bar when plugging into the USB port. I opted not to use it so I can easily remove, relocate the port if needed. I've used the unit for about 3 weeks now, with a few short rides in town and 2 longer rides and I have no complaints. Robust, easy to install and a very clean installation with all the installation bits needed. I would purchase again and have recommended the charger to some friends.
