  • do i need a power commander and air filter system with this pipe?

While it's not required, if you want to get the biggest possible performance gain out of your new exhaust, we do recommend adjusting fuel delivery to suit. The addition of an aftermarket air cleaner, while not required - doesn't hurt either, if you're looking to get the best engine performance out of your bike.

In the case the Honda VT1300 and VTX1300 models, we recommend the Cobra Fi2000R fuel controller to go along with any aftermarket exhaust or air cleaner kit. The device is easy to install - easier than putting on the exhaust of concern here, and also - simple to tune. You don't even need to make a trip to the dyno to get it set up. The included instructions do an excellent job of explaining how to adjust the unit for your bike's specific needs. There are only three dials to change, so it's much like tuning a carb, but even simpler. Best of all, these changes are not permanent, so if you were to go with just the exhaust for now and then later on decide to put an air cleaner kit on the bike, tuning adjustment is a snap.
