Cobra Fi2000R Fuel Controller

Nearly every Cruiser motorcycle can benefit with the installation of the Fi2000R. Better throttle response, no backfiring, and smoother cruising are just a few of the areas improved by the Fi2000. Great tuner.

By   on  Verified Purchaser

This device made such a difference in my 2021 Kawasaki Vulcan 900.

Whole new bike!

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Took my baffles out of my 11' Honda shadow and put the cobra controller on and instantly became a new bike!

Awesome works great

By   on  Verified Purchaser

This thing is awesome. Made my bike come to life and my upgrades work so much better until my fuel pump went out.

2016 street glide, 2 into 1 exhaust

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Very decent part, easy plug and play, but if they included a few sample pot settings for the different variations that would help set up the correct lot settings per what you are running. Overall if you know how to tune from feel and sound then definitely get this part.

Cobra Fi2000R

2000 Harley Electra glide classic

Installation was simple and quick. Cured the bikes hesitation and backfiring during deceleration and shifting. 2000 Harley FLHTCI, big bore kit, aftermarket air cleaner, true dual headers and 4” aftermarket slip on’s.

Easy and bike runs great with stage 1.

Problem solved!

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I have a 06 Harley fat boy. I put aftermarket pipes on it and the backfiring from the tune being so lean was very annoying. Read all the reviews on the cobra and went that route. Half hour install and backfiring is completely gone. A side benefit is my throttle response is much better than before. Great product.

Runs like it should

By   on  Verified Purchaser

2009 Vulcan Voyager 1700 install was simple a tweak here a tweak there simple settings, runs better than it ever has. My Fi2000 I put on 10 years ago died. It had no adjustments worked well but this one works much better!

Good product

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Unit installed easily enough. I really don't know the difference if it is improving performance since new pipe installation. I will check plugs after 1000 miles to see how they are burning.

More power!

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Fairly easy install once I figured out how the connector unplugged from the fuel injector. Easy to tune, just be sure you can remove and reinstall your seat. Really smooths out out power once it's dialed in. I have a Cobra slip on 2 into one exhaust and the Proflow intake. I'm running 1 3 1 settings on my 2015 Yamaha Stryker.

Highly recommended product

By   on  Verified Purchaser

This tuner is the best thing that ever happened to my wife’s road king. We bought it used a few years back with only 20,000 miles on it. Ran a little rough but it ran. It never was able to go past 70 miles an hour. Its fuel injected and sometimes starts like a carburetor with bad choke. I put the cobra Fi2000 on the bike in 10 to 15 minutes. The first preset tune was by far amazing I only tweaked a half a turn for backfire on the first dial but that’s it. 5 stars.

Works like a dream

Best EFI tuner on the market. Installed in 15 min ready to accent the other mods: air and exhaust. Gobbs of power, quicker throttle response, more hp. Awesome

Exceeded expectations

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I bought this to pair with my new Cobra powerflo intake and cobra Neighbor Haters I’d installed last year. This is all on my 2015 HD Ultra Limited. Went for short and cold January ride. The sound is much more crisp and the acceleration was unbelievable. Relatively easy install for a non-mechanic like me. It took about 2 hours for the intake and controller to install.

Excellent product

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Easy to connect, worked perfectly set from the factory and had to make no changes.

Hard to get tuned right

By   on  Verified Purchaser

So the product was good, packed well and was pretty easy to install. Would have been easier if I had a buddy to help. Now after the install the bike has still not quite gotten tuned right. Seems no matter where I set it, it just won’t run right.

Cobra Fi2000R Fuel Controller

Cobra controller for a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 classic

By   on  Verified Purchaser

This air fuel ratio controller installed easy. I had to use the advanced tuning feature because of the modifications on my bike but it’s doing what it states and I’m happy with the results!

Meh

It allows you to adjust the fuel at different RPM levels, but you can never truly dial it in. After a month of messing with it I'm cutting my losses and taking it out.

Good instructions for someone with a little mechanical and electrical skills and true plug and play. Set up nice from the factory for the bike and pipes.

Cobra Fi2000 on my 01 flstsi

By   on  Verified Purchaser

The controller arrived as advertised and the installation was a breeze. Went so quick I thought something was missing. I fired up the bike and it did exactly what I wanted it to do with no adjustment. I had just put on freedom performance true duals and the bike was running pretty poorly. This tuner smoothed things out nicely right out of the box. I would certainly recommend it to someone looking for an easy quick tuner solution. If you want I’m sure you could get something more powerful but this is perfect if you don’t want to fool with all the tuning. Plug and play at its best.

Much Improved Performance

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Running 2012 Road Glide Ultra with slip-ons and K & N filter. Tried first setup: slip-ons with stock air cleaner. Runs great! Throttle response in mid-range greatly improved and cruises better on highway. I haven't checked fuel mileage yet but I'm not going back whatever. I highly recommend this fuel controller.

Very satisfied

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I would like to take the time to write a review for the product I purchased but especially for this company (Parts Giant). My experience was 10 out 10. Everything according to what was advertised, easy checkout, shipping really fast with details and fitment on the product. The cobra F12000R works perfect on my bike, noticed the improvement right away on my 2007 Suzuki Boulevard C90.

Cobra Fi2000R Fuel Controller

By   on

I bought the cobra Fi2000 to eliminate the snap, crackle and pop I was experiencing after I installed 3in. straights on my C90. I had my local shop install it and that didn't take long at all. I noticed right away that allot of the popping I had during decal was gone, not completely, but much improved. I had no real change in acceleration performance even when I installed a K&N air filter. I did see a decrease in my fuel economy which disappointed me. There are three adjustments that can be made with the Fi2000. I plan to explore tuning further next time I take the bike in for work.

Good product

By   on

Did the first stage upgrade on my 2007 V-Rod which consisted of exhaust, air filter and fuel controller. A pair of needle nose pliers will help with the front and rear fuel injector connections. Stock cobra presets are at 2-2-2. Still ran lean so I adjusted all 3 pots to 4-4-4. No more lean condition and it runs great.

Cobra Fi2000R

Pleased!

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I have a 2015 Vrod Muscle I installed this fuel controller on because I added Bassani 4" slip ons & a K&N filter. I'm very impressed so far. I'll need to drive it awhile but my first impressions are as follows. I installed everything by the instructions except I waited until last to zip tie every thing. I did find out that the front O2 pigtail needs to be left loose on my bike so you can tuck it behind the radiator cover. I initially turned the key on and was pleased all 3 lights extinguished in less than 2 seconds. Then I finished zip tie all the wires etc. Reinstalled all covers etc. Started it and a second later only a green light as expected. Then I proceeded to drive it and ALL aspects of drivability improved drastically. So that's my review and I had zero problem d with the instructions etc.

Fi2000R on 1300cc

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I installed the Fi2000R fuel controller with my cobra slash down pipes and what a sound. No popping and runs fantastic. Bike is crazy fast for a 1300 cc. Didn't mess with the fuel mileage might even be better.

Just What I Needed

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Installed this on my 2005 Road King Classic with stock air and RC Component pipes and what a difference. It idles better runs better with no popping when I roll off the throttle. Easy easy install. Came with great instructions and support from Parts Giant. You'll need more zip ties than what is provided. Happy rider here!!

Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Is it okay to run a Cobra fuel Controller with a cobra air intake, but a vance + hines exhaust on a 2015 Yamaha Bolt?

Yes! You can use the Fi2000R on pretty much any combination of aftermarket exhaust and intake for your Yamaha Bolt. Just follow the guidelines as outlined in the included instructions and you'll have no problem configuring the tuner for your bike's specific needs. You'll find the set up rather simple as there are only three dials on the device and the instructions are pretty clear on what to do given your bike's particular fueling needs.

Answer Question

Ive got a 2005 fuel injected HD Fatboy anniversary model. I have installed vance and Hines long shota nd a Kn filter. will the cobra help me? Do I just plug it in or is there tuning involved? Thank you.

With the Fi2000R, it's a rather straightforward job to get the unit configured for your machine's particular configuration. Just plug it in following the guidance noted in the included instructions and you're all set. All of the adjustment range you need is built into the Fi2000R's system, so getting it set up to run requires no additional service work or trips to the dealer.

Answer Question

Installing a Cobra powerflo on my Kawasaki 900 do I need to install a fuel processor.

Anytime you change the way air gets into, or out of, the engine - it's best to adjust fuel delivery to suit. In this way, you can be sure of the best possible engine performance and throttle response. To get your motor running right, we can't say enough good things about the Cobra Fi2000R. It's simple to install and configure - plus, because it comes from Cobra, the included installation instructions explain exactly how to set up the device to work with any Cobra intake (or exhaust). As there are only three knobs to adjust, it's really a straight-forward operation to get the most out of the new set up. Plus, you won't have to visit a tuner to get it done, Cobra has done all the work for you as shown in those instructions!

Answer Question

I'm installing Neighbor Haters & a Cobra air intake system on my '13 Softail Slim. Is the Fi2000R all I need or will I have to take the bike to the dealer to have the ECM reflashed?

With the Fi2000R, there's no need to have the ECU flashed when you're installing the Neighbor Haters and the intake on your bike. All of the adjustment range you need is built into the Fi2000R's system, so getting it set up to run requires no additional service work or trips to the dealer. There's no need to have the ECM reflashed. Just configure the unit as directed by following the included instructions and you'll be all set to get the most out of your bike and its new components!

By Staff
Answer Question

will i need to run a o2 eliminator kit to use this

If your bike comes from the factory with an oxygen sensor, then there's no need to use an O2 eliminator when installing the Fi2000R. This system is specifically engineered to work with the stock wiring harness to correctly meter fuel as your engine needs. There's no need to buy any extra parts to fit this fuel controller to your bike.

By Staff
Answer Question

I'm putting Neighbor Hater on my 2019 Street Glide, Is a controller required?

While you can probably get away with installing the Neighbor Haters without adjusting fuel delivery, to get the best possible throttle response and engine performance, it's always best to get some sort of fueling modification device. Basically, any time you change the way air gets into or out of, the motor, you'll want to adjust fueling appropriately to maximize any performance gains available from the new setup. The Fi2000R is an excellent choice as, of course - it's a Cobra product that's specifically engineered to work with Cobra exhaust systems. Plus, the included instructions explain exactly how to go about installing the tuner and configuring it for your specific needs. Later on, should you decide to go with aftermarket headers, the tuner can be easily adjust to accommodate the different fueling requirements in a matter of minutes.

Answer Question

I bought your cobra pipes and installed then on my 2006 suzuki boulvard c50t and seem to run ok but after a week or so I took my finger and ran it on the inside of the pipes and really black my friend said it running really rich/lean and could cause it to foul the plugs if it hasn't already done so. it pops sometimes when I back off the throttle it seems to have pretty good power.

the bike is getting less then 30 miles to the gallon and he said it should be 40 to 50 miles to the gallon. I seen in one of your answers it would decrease fuel mileage if added. will this part help or hurt the performance also do you think I should add 2 new sparks plugs if I get this part? this is a new bike to me and not sure how good it was on gas mileage before I bought it.

First, yes - the Fi2000R would be of great help, in fact - if you haven't installed a fuel tuner, that should be the very next thing you do to get the most out of the new exhaust. As far as fowling plugs, it wouldn't hurt to have a new of set NGK spark plugs on hand when you install the fuel tuner. That way, you can be absolutely sure everything is up to snuff.

Answer Question

I have 2009 Yamaha Raider which is heavily modified. Will the Fi2000r work for me?

The Cobra FI2000R is designed to work with motorcycle that has modified the intake and or exhaust system on their motorcycle. It can keep up with engine mods such as cams or high compression pistons. Anything short of forced induction would be no problem to use the FI2000R.

Answer Question

Does this product have any type of indicators that allow the user to know the unit is functioning properly? Thank you.

2017 Harley Sportster Iron 883

There are three LED's on the unit which signify the injection range that is working at the time. During installation, they have you remove the door to the unit to expose the LED's and examine it has been installed properly. Once it is on the bike and set you would not need to view the lights other than to tune out any inconstancy with your chosen potentiometer settings.

Answer Question

HAVING A 95CI KIT PUT IN MY BIKE WONDERING IF THIS IS IDEAL FOR A BIG BORE W 204 CAMS AND 2008 PIPES W O2 SENSOR

05 ULTRA CLASSIC 204 CAMS STOCK AIR BREATHER BUT HAS PIPES OFF AN 08 W O2 SENSORS AND RINEHART SLIP ONS.IDE LIKE TO USE THE O2 SENSORS

Unfortunately no, the Fi2000R isn't suitable for your particular needs. It's really limited to use with aftermarket exhausts and air cleaners on a machine with the stock bore diameter. It doesn't have enough of an adjustment range to handle your particular setup. To suit your particular needs, your best bet would be a tuning system such as a TTS MasterTune Bike Communications Interface. The MasterTune system allows you to make the requisite adjustments for configuring your bike properly. Mind you, you will need to do some studying in order to configure the device to work for your bike's needs, but it's worth the effort as you'll have total control over the bike's ECU to get the most out of your new set up. And don't forget, you'll need the proper TTS MasterTune Cable Kit in order to re-program your bike's ECU.

Answer Question

I have a 2017 Kawaski Vulcan custom and plan on ordering the cobra speedster swept exaust system and a powerflo intake system, what fuel controller should i order to go with these, and if i wanted to go with the Fi2000 powrpro black is it fairly easy to plug and play for more of a beginner or should i just go with the Fi2000r or Fi2000 tri pot

Installation for any Fi2000 unit is a rather straight-forward process. The Tri-Pot variant would be the most involved since it doesn't include OEM-style connectors, but rather, T-taps and such for mooring it to your bike's wire harness. The Fi2000R and the PowrPro Black both have OEM-style connectors on them, so plugging them in is much simpler. Of course, the interface between the two is significantly different, with the latter requiring an iOS or Android device to program it. If you're technically savvy, the the PowrPro Black would be the way to go. If simplicity is your thing, the Fi2000R is your bag - as there are only three adjustment knobs on the device. No matter what device you choose, however, you'll find that the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining how to install and configure the device your choose. And of course, you can always call on us to help you our if you get stuck.

Answer Question

I want to order a exhaust and fuel controller. I have a 2008 Suzuki boulevard c50t. Will this controller work for my bike?

Yes, Cobra does indeed produce a fuel controller to fit the 2008 Suzuki C50T Boulevard. Just choose the 2008 Suzuki VL800T Boulevard C50T Fi2000R from our fit guide, and we guarantee you'll receive the correct fuel controller to fit your bike!

By Staff
Answer Question

Can the device be removed after tuningand will it remain tuned, also does thisbproduct come with complete installing and tuning instructions

The device must be left in place in order to adjust fuel delivery as it does not flash a new map to the ECU. It adjusts the fuel signal between the ECU and the fuel injectors in real time at 60hz. Once you remove it, fuel delivery is reverted back to stock. And yes, there are a set of instructions included in the box. They're well-written and explain exactly how to configure the tuner for a wide variety of needs. As there are only three adjustment knobs on the tuner itself, it's a rather straight forward affair.

Answer Question

How will this setup further enhance this 125 ci monster? Ive heard good and not so good.

I ride a 2007 Vulcan Classic LT. It runs great as is. I'm researching your slash cut exhaust system (for obvious reasons), and Fi2000 controller as a combo. This bike is already brutish. I would appreciate your input, as I don't see much on the alterations of this bike anywhere.. Thanks.

By slash cut, I trust you mean the slash down exhaust from Cobra? If that's the case, the Fi2000R is an excellent match for that exhaust as it's a complete system. Most of the complaints against the Fi2000R has garnered are from users that add the tuner to a bike that's either, completely stock or just has a slip-on muffler installed. In those particular cases, the tuner, even when dialed back to minimum fuel delivery settings, still deliver too much fuel for the bike to run correctly. The bike just runs too rich. The Fi200)R is best suited for machines equipped with, at the very least, a slip-on exhaust and an aftermarket air intake or, a full exhaust system (with/without aftermarket air intake). For bikes configured as such, it's proven to be an excellent driver of improved performance over stock and also, great for throttle response. The latter, of course, is most noticeable, especially when riding in traffic or on a particularly spirited ride. It's there that having your right hand connected to the rear wheel matters most and, the Fi2000R, when properly configured - does an excellent job of that. The included instructions do an excellent job of explaining exactly how to configure the device to work with a Cobra exhaust system and, since there are only three knobs to adjust, anyone can get it right with a few trips around the block.

By Staff
Answer Question

I Have 2010 Sportster I bought aftermarket exhaust (not slip on) will this do or will I still need to get it Dino tuned or one of those 300-500 tuners?

Cobra's Fi2000R tuners are designed to be tuned without the need to visit the dyno. Each device has three adjustment dials on it, which are akin to the low, mid and high adjustments you'd find on a carburetor. And each tuner comes straight out of the box set up to work with a full exhaust system. Of course, after going for a ride, you may find that you'll want to make some changes. And that's really no problem - the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining exactly how to go about making changes in order to get the most out of your bike. All of this, of course, is done without the need to visit a tuning shop.

By Staff
Answer Question

Does this unit work with 2 into 1 pipes or just slip ons?

2005 Ultra classic Fuel injected

Cobra's Fi2000R fuel controllers are best suited for use on machines equipped with a full exhaust system of any kind. They tend to deliver a bit much in the way of fuel, even when adjusted to minimums, to work with some slip-on exhausts. For this reason, we prefer to recommend the device for machines equipped with either, a slip-on exhaust and aftermarket air intake, or at least a full exhaust system. The configuration of the full system itself is irrelevant, it'll work well on 2:2 or 2:1 full exhaust systems.

By Staff
Answer Question

I put the cobra slip ons from you guys on my 15 harley 48. I noticed a lot of pop on decel. Will this rectify my issue or should I look at a different unit?

If a motorcycle backfires down through the entire r.p.m. range during deceleration, then most likely the injectors are not turning off as intended, and this indicates a possible issue with the fuel injection system. There are numerous possibilities; improper throttle position sensor setting, bad temp sensor(s) or even throttle cable adjustment (doesn't allow fully-closed throttle). Mind you, this may have been the case before the fuel tuner was installed, though when adding a freer-flowing exhaust, this would exacerbate the problem which manifests itself in backfiring. Another thing to look at would be the seals between mufflers and the headers. If there's any air coming in between the mufflers and the headers, that could cause the excess fuel to easily burn as well.

Answer Question

2003 VTX 1800s

How will the Fi2000R work to make my riding experience better?

It really depends on the configuration of your bike. If it's a completely stock machine, or you only have an aftermarket slip-on installed - it's not going to do much for your needs. In fact, even at its lowest fuel delivery settings, it'll probably be too rich. Consequently, the engine will flounder a bit before it clears its throat and gets moving when you open the throttle. This particular unit is ideal for machines equipped with either, a slip-on muffler and aftermarket air cleaner, or a full exhaust system with/without aftermarket air cleaner. For those configurations, the Fi2000R will improve engine power output, but in particular, makes for much better throttle response. In other words, while power output is nice to have, what you really notice as a rider is the connection of your right hand to the rear wheel. The Fi2000R adjusts fuel delivery in such a way as to prevent the engine from missing at a steady throttle, or stumbling when you grab a handful at any RPM. These two traits in particular are the hallmark of poor fueling and the most annoying problem whenever a new exhaust or intake is installed on a bike. In terms of riding experience - if your bike doesn't respond to throttle inputs the way it should, or feels like it misses on occasion at certain power settings, then this is the device for you. Three pots of adjustment are all that's needed and the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining how to get the most out of the tool.

Answer Question

2010 fury with cobra intake and cobra swept exhaust no baffles in. Would this be a better fit for my bike then the pcv?

For outright performance, the PC-V is the way to go, but you'll need to take your bike to a competent dyno tuner in order to get the most out of it. The Fi2000R will get you close to the maximum power gains and throttle response possible, but doesn't require a trip to the dyno. If money is no object, go for the Fury Power Commander V and then take it to a good tuner. Otherwise, a few minutes in the garage following the Fi2000R's included installation and setup directions, and you'll be all set to get the most out of your bike's exhaust and intake combination.

Answer Question

Will this fit my 2015 raider s, have stock air and barons nastyboy slashcuts

If you were to choose the 2015 Yamaha XV1900CS Raider S fuel tuner from our fit guide, you'd get the appropriate unit to fit your machine. With your Yamaha Raider exhaust system, this kit would be up to the task. Plus, should you decide to upgrade the intake system, a simple adjustment would be all that's needed to get the most out of that upgrade as well. This particular kit is a rather versatile fuel tuner for the Yamaha Raider.

Answer Question

2017 Honda vt1300cx Fury

I have a Honda 2017 vt1300cx Fury. I have ordered Cobra swept pipes and a Cobra air Cleaner Assembly. Is it recommended I get this fuel controller? or the closed loop controller? Or do I need ANYTHING after install of pipes and new air cleaner? Thanks :)) Greg

Yes, this tuner would be perfect to fit your needs. We can't say enough good things about these controllers, they're simple to install and easy to configure. They come straight out of the box setup to deliver fuel for a full exhaust system, though, you may need to make some minor changes in order to get the most out of it with the Cobra air cleaner. The included instructions provide a really good explanation on what changes to make (there are only three rheostats on the tuner) in order to get the best possible throttle response and engine power output. The Fi2000R we have on offer is indeed of the closed-loop variety, which is the best option for your configuration since the Cobra headers come with a provision for fitting the OEM Honda oxygen sensor on your bike.

Answer Question

i have a 2003 ultra classic fuel-injected. i recently dumped the stock crossover pipes for cobra true duels and full bore mufflers with a two and a half inch bore. now the bike bogs rolling into first gear, stutters and pops around 2300 rpm and the power is down. ive been told she smells like shes dumping fuel under acceleration. will the cobra fi2000 cure any or all of these problems?

If your bike wasn't tuned at all for the exhaust components you've just put on your bike, then yes - you definitely need a tune! The stock ECU just doesn't have a good enough map to compensate for those modifications. The bogging you notice is giant red flag for a lean-running engine. So long as your bike was running well enough before you added the exhaust system, then the Fi2000R, proper configured of course - will almost certainly mitigate these problems. It comes out-of-the-box setup to deal with a full exhaust system. And, after some seat time with the device plugged in, you should be able to zero in on the adjustments you need to make (there are only three knobs on the device) in order to get a well-running bike. And by well-running, we mean great throttle response and better engine power output than stock.

Answer Question

Can this be used without having an aftermarket exhaust and intake put on? I'm planning on buying all three eventually.

2013 vn900 classic

For the Vulcan 900, it's not a good idea as we've had more than one customer complain that the device actually made the bike run worse when it's the only aftermarket part used. Even at its lowest settings, it still adds too much fuel for the stock exhaust and stock intake setup. Your best bet would be to, at the very least, also add an exhaust or intake to the bike before purchasing the fuel tuner.

Answer Question

Will this work with a 2017 Honda Fury ABS with Baron Big Air intake and Vance and Hines slip on mufflers? And, how would this compare to the Dynojet Power Commander V?

Cobra's Fi2000R for the 2017 Honda Fury is an excellent match for your particular configuration. It's easy to install and set up - and you don't need to make a trip to the dyno to get it all set for your specific needs. The Power Commander V, on the other hand - will require, at the least - a download of a map from the Dynojet website that's close to your current configuration. Or, for the best results using the Fury PC-V, you'll need to take your bike to a competent tuno shop, preferably a Dynojet-approved tuning center, in order to have a custom map built for your exact needs. While the overall potential of the PC-V is greater in terms of power gains, the only way to do that is with the added cost of a tuner's time. The Fi2000R will get you pretty close to the best possible engine power output and throttle response and it'll do it all without having to visit a dyno. Plus, the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining exactly how to adjust the unit (there are only three adjustment pots on the device) based upon how the bike acts when you're out riding it. In terms of bang for the buck, you can't go wrong with the Fi2000R.

Answer Question

will this add enough fuel to stop my ping on hot days on a 2007 electra glide

This controller is indeed going to add fuel to compensate for performance upgrades, such as exhaust and/or intake kit, but it's not really designed to prevent pinging. The pinging itself could be the result of poor quality fuel, fuel that's of a lower octane than recommended. While the Fi2000 may help, it's certainly not guaranteed to prevent it.

Answer Question

Will this work on my 09 cross bones if i use cobra slip on strait shots and a cobra air cleaner?

Yes, the Cobra Fi2000R will fit your 2009 Harley Softail Crossbones. Considering the configuration you have, it'll do nicely with getting the most out of those Cobra accessories. The included instructions also have a recommended starting point for tuning your bike for the air cleaner and exhaust you already have installed on your bike. In fact, those settings were tested on a Softail using a Cobra air cleaner and Cobra exhaust!

Answer Question

Will it work on 2016 street bob with air cleaner and thunderheader

So long as the Thunderheader you have retains the OEM oxygen sensors, then yes, you should have no problem fitting this system to your machine. It's designed to work with a vast range of configurations and includes three adjustment pots that are similar in function to adjusting a carburetor. The included instructions make it a rather simple affair to get things set up for your needs. Just plug it in, make the recommended adjustments and go for a ride to see how it feels. After that, if needed - make the required adjustments and go for another ride. Repeat as such until the engine performs the way you want.

Answer Question

Will this unit work with my 2014 fat bob with screaming eagle intake and pipes?

Yes, this Cobra Fi2000R can absolutely be run on the 2014 Dyna Fat Bob with a Screamin' Eagle intake and aftermarket pipes! The kit can be configured to run on just about any configuration that doesn't involve modifying the combustion chamber or going crazy with the cam profiles. The included instructions do a pretty good job of explaining how to set up the device to work for your specific needs, too. After installing the fuel tuner, there's little more to do than set the three rheostat dials to the suggested baseline, go for a ride and adjust accordingly. Usually, it only takes two or three quick rides that include stop-and-go, cruising at street then highway speeds and full-throttle acceleration to get it set up right.

Answer Question

i have a 2008 rocker Y pipes exhaust with O2 sensors and stock air breather will this cobra stop the backfiring and make the bike perfrom but still work well when i make more upgrades

The Cobra Fi2000R for the Harley Softail Rocker will most likely help for your needs, but one thing you'll certainly want to consider before making any other changes is to be sure that the exhaust you're using doesn't have any air leaks in it. Often, but not always - leaky fittings can be the culprit here. Another area that's highly suspect on Harley-Davidson motorcycles is the air intake. Specifically, the rubber intake gasket can become brittle, especially if a lot of your riding consists of stop-and-go traffic or you live in a southern, hotter climate. The higher engine temperature tend to cook the intake gasket. Have a look at that for a good seal between the manifold and the air cleaner just to be absolutely certain all is well on the intake side. If, after a good once-over, you still find that your Harley Rocker is backfiring, then it's time to adjust fueling. Cobra's HD Rocker Fi2000R is an excellent tool for addressing this. And, given its simple user interface, you'll be able to set it up to work with your configuration easily. The same goes for future modifications, any changes there will also be easily accommodated via the simple user interface. Plus, the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining exactly how to get the device set up for your specific needs.

Answer Question

How well will this work with a 2015 HD Street glide special, with a Vance and Hines power dual header, with rinehart slip ons and a ss big sucker air cleaner??

So long as you've retained the Street Glide oxygen sensors with the installation of those exhaust components, the fuel controller will serve your needs rather well. It simply compares throttle input against the ECU signals and the air/fuel ratio of the exhaust gases. With that data, it automatically adjusts fuel delivery while you ride in order to give you the best throttle response and engine power output.

Answer Question

Will the fi 2000r fit my Electra glide ultra low??

At the moment, Cobra doesn't produce any fuel controllers to fit the FLHTKL. We do, however, have a Vance & Hines FP3 Fuelpak that will fit that machine. It's also quite a bit more simple to install. All you need is an Android or iOS smartphone with the requisite FP3 app, and you've got everything you need to adjust fueling on your bike for any exhaust and/or air cleaner combination.

Answer Question

What are the advantages of running a closed loop over an open?

Basically, a closed-loop tuner provides a finer degree of tuning since it relies on the bike's OEM oxygen sensor(s) to provide real-time exhaust gas analysis. In this way, the fuel tuner can adjust mapping instantly in order to deliver the best possible engine power and throttle response as conditions change. Open-loop systems are to be used only if you have very specific fueling requirements, or, your machine is equipped with an exhaust that doesn't accept oxygen sensors. The open-loop kits allow you additional flexibility in selecting your exhaust.

Answer Question

Well I asked you earlier about my Harley Davidson 1996 1340 CC fuel injected and you said I probably could get by without using this fuel controller but what could and would happen if I don't use it what's the pros and cons

In the event you decide to forego modifying fuel delivery on your bike when installing a new exhaust, you may notice a few things: First, poor throttle response. The bike may miss at cruising speed with no changes in throttle input. It'll feel like it stumbles at times when your hand is steady. It may happen a lot, or at the other hand - it might not happen at all. It's impossible to say what you'll notice upon installation of a new exhaust. Second, you won't get the most out of your exhaust modification. That is to say, since the engine now breathes better, you have an opportunity to add more fuel to the combustion chamber and get more power to the ground. While not as annoying as the first point mentioned herein, if you're not putting an exhaust on your bike to get more power out of the engine, then why bother? In order to reap maximum benefit out of any intake or exhaust modification, we highly recommend that fuel delivery be adjusted for those modifications. The Fi2000R from Cobra easily addresses both of these issues. You get a device that's simple to install, very easy to configure and - should you make other changes in the future, it can be configured to work with those as well.

Answer Question

I have a mustang seat on my bike. will the cobra Fi2000r fuel controller fit under this seat.

The only machine for which we've run into that problem was a Softail Custom, but the customer was able to find a different spot than what was recommended in the instructions to place the controller. Generally speaking, most aftermarket seats have a pan that's shaped as close as possible to the OEM seat in order to avoid difficulties such as this. In the instance that you run into space problem on account of the seat pan's shape, there's enough cable that allows you to route the tuner into a different location, such as behind a battery box cover or under the fuel tank.

Answer Question

What's vthe difference between this and the closed loop programmer?

Simply put, Cobra's Fi2000R Closed-Loop Fuel Controller is designed to work on machines in which you want to keep the oxygen sensor installed on the exhaust. If you're running an aftermarket exhaust that has no provision for such, then the standard Fi2000R will do the trick.

Answer Question

I've a 2014 v star 1300. Is this a n open or closed loop system?.

Additionally, which would be preferable, & why?

This particular unit would be the open-loop version as it doesn't rely on the bike's O2 sensor in order to adjust fuel delivery. If you plan on running your bike without the O2 sensor, this is the proper unit to get. About the best situation in which to run an open-loop setup is if you have very specific fuel delivery needs, particularly at higher RPMs. If you're using an aftermarket exhaust that does include a provision for the exhaust sensor, and you wish to leave it on the bike, you will want to purchase the Cobra Fi2000R Closed-Loop Fuel Controller. The closed-loop option actually allows for better tunability since there is a feedback loop on the exhaust that helps the Fi2000R adjust fuel delivery accordingly.

Answer Question

2004 road king

I have Vance & Hines Big Radius exhaust 509 cams Gear Drive will this unit work with my setup

Provided it's a fuel-injected FLHRI you're referring to, then yes - the Fi2000R should be suitable for your needs. The tuner can be used on pretty much any Harley model with aftermarket exhausts and/or intakes. It's also suitable for use on machines with cams up to .510 - so the 509 cam set on your bike shouldn't be a problem.

Answer Question

I have a 2000 FLHTCI I want to put true dual exhaust on maybe a stage 1 air box will this work and maybe later on upgrade to ca 95 in kit

Cobra's Fi2000R fuel controllers are designed to work with pretty much any exhaust and air cleaner combination out there. They'll also work with cam sets of a modest lift (509 or less), but once you start getting into big bore kits and head work, they simply don't have the adjustment range required to delivery enough fuel to the combustion chamber. So, for your stage 1 air box and the true dual exhaust - no problemo, but you will need something purpose-built to handle fuel delivery on that 95" kit.

Answer Question

What do you do with sensor leads

Does plugs come with kit

Cobra's Fi2000R plugs directly into the OEM wire harness on every model we have it listed to fit. For some machines, you may need to use the included T-tap to complete the job, but there's never any splicing or soldering of wires required to complete the installation.

Answer Question

Does the Cobra utilize factory O2 sensors or does it bypass it like the PCV?

I have Kawasaki Voyager with Vance and Hines exhaust that does not have a hole for O2 sensor. Do I need to make one to use the sensor?

There's no provision for connecting oxygen sensors to the Fi2000R, nor does the kit come with O2 sensors. Everything you need to put it on 2009-2013 model year Voyagers is included in the box and installation is rather simple. Maybe twenty minutes worth of work, if you were to take your time!

Is this what I need if I am purchasing a cobra slip on exhaust for a 2014 Yamaha 950 tourer?

Yes, we highly recommend the installation of a Cobra fuel controller with the installation this, or any other Cobra exhaust or intake components we sell. You'll notice in the instructions that come with slip-on, they recommend the installation of this controller as well. Better yet, the device will be configured with to work with the Cobra exhaust right out of the box, too. And best of all, the included Fi2000R instructions do an excellent job of explaining exactly how to fine-tune the device to give you the best possible performance for your bike's exact tuning needs.

I have a 2010 Honda Shadow Phantom 750 with the stock exhaust cut behind the baffles and mufflers. Will this work for me

You would be able to adjust this particular Honda Phantom tuner to work with your exact setup. The device comes configured from the factory to work with a full exhaust system, which may get you close to your tuning needs. From there, you can adjust the three rheostats on the Fi2000R in much the same way as you would adjust a carburetor. The included instructions do an excellent job of explaining how to go about adjusting fuel delivery to get the best possible throttle response and engine power output for your exact needs.

Answer Question

I have a 99 Raod king Classic with a Power Comander 3. If since added true duel exhaust . Would the Cobra replace that or work with it?

Would the Cobra replace it or work with it?

Really, there's no point in utilizing a PC3 and an Fi2000R at the same time as they both connect to and adjust the same circuits. In the case of the Road King Power Commander 3, there's a litany of maps available on the Power Commander website that you can download that'll put your bike within the ballpark as far as tuning goes. Of course, if you were to retain the PC3, in order to get the most possible power out of the engine, you'd want to visit a dyno shop and have that device professionally tuned.

Answer Question

Is this controller self adjusting and do you have to program it? I have a 2015 Yamaha bolt r- spec

The Fi2000R comes from the factory pre-programmed to work with an aftermarket full exhaust system, but can easily be adjusted to work with just about any exhaust and intake configuration. The included instructions do an excellent job of explaining how to go about adjusting the device to work with your exact configuration. If you want something that's truly self-adjusting, check out the Cobra PowrPro Black fuel controller. With that device, it's a simple matter of plugging it in and then going for a ride. That's all. If you're really picky about throttle response, there's also an iOS or Android smartphone application that can be used to really fine tune fuel delivery with the PowrPro Black. And like the Fi2000R, the included instructions help you get the most out of your fuel tuning needs.

Answer Question

Clever device...?

For this unit to read the stock sensors, what exactly does that mean? My 06 night train isnt equipped with O2 sensors therefor many tuners will not work on my model and year. Is this an issue with the cobra for my 06 fxstbi?

The Fi2000R plugs directly into the OEM wire harness and, in this way, it's able to read data as it moves between the ECU and other devices on the bike. It then intercepts that signal and adjusts it as required in order to produce the best possible throttle response and engine performance. Similar to the way you'd adjust a carburetor (low, mid, high jetting) - there are three adjustment pots on the unit itself which you use to set up the bike to deliver fuel as you need. It doesn't require an oxygen sensor in order to function properly. Each device comes pre-set from the factory for use with a slip-on and/or aftermarket air cleaner. If you find that those settings are not ideal for your needs, the included instructions do a pretty good job of explaining exactly what adjustments you'd want to make based upon the way the bike responds at various power settings.

Answer Question

Does this unit reset the ecu as timing etc.?

my Harley 2001 electra glide ultra classic had a key program put in it Techn Research will the cobra delete this program and reset the ecm to the cobra settings, therfore changing the timing, idle, and power

No, the unit installs between the ECM and the fuel injectors on your machine where it only modifies the signal between those components. It doesn't actually make any changes to the ECM nor will it delete the key program on your machine. It simply changes the signals between the bike's on-board parts so as to improve throttle response and engine output.

By Staff
Answer Question

will this help fuel millage, im only getting 30 mpg at present

You would actually be reducing fuel mileage with the installation of an Fi2000R, or pretty much any fuel controller, than when compared to stock. Cobra's kits are designed specifically to negate the lean running stock configuration. When I say lean, I mean that there's less fuel being delivered via fuel-injection than what is optimal for peak performance. All late-model mass-produced bikes come from the factory tuned leaner than ideal so as to pass emissions regulations. By adding an Fi2000R, you're going to make the bike run richer (that is, add more fuel than stock) in order to get more power and better overall engine performance out of the bike. Simple things outside of adjusting fueling may help improve mileage, such as running correct tire pressure and smoothing your throttle or brake inputs.

Answer Question

How much more horsepower can I get with this? Would having a K&N air filter work with this system?

Cobra's Fi2000R fuel controller can handle just about any aftermarket accessory you can throw at it, with the exception of a supercharger or turbo. Unfortunately, Cobra does not publish power gains since the exact numbers vary based on the configuration of your machine (exhaust, air filer, fuel used &etc.).

By Staff
Answer Question

This says works with all exhaust with no adjustment what about air intakes?

Yes, it works with pretty much any configuration your bike is set up with, be it completely stock with an aftermarket air cleaner and/or a full exhaust system without baffles. The unit reads the stock sensor inputs at 60Hz and tunes fueling accordingly for the best possible power output, regardless of atmospheric conditions (altitude, humidity) or the type of fuel used. It's a pretty clever device. You may have to make some changes to one of the three dials on the unit itself, but the included instructions explain under what conditions those dials are to be changed, and what direction to go. It's really simple device to use! About the only time the Fi2000R doesn't perform is on completely stock machines. Even at its lowest settings, it applies too much fuel for the stock intake and exhaust to handle and often, the bike runs poorly because of it. This situation only applies on bikes with a completely stock setup!
