Better Than Stock

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I wanted something to replace the big black clunky hose that is the stock crankcase breather vent line on my Road King. I read reviews from some guys who said that they had replaced it with a stainless steel braided hose which looked better but was rubbing against and scratching the other parts of the bike that it was routed across. The Drag Specialties chrome vent line also looks good but because it's thinner and formed to move AROUND the other bike parts, it doesn't rub against them. It was fairly easy to install. Per the instructions, I did have to grind down the length of the tube almost an inch to fit it in place but with a bench grinder that wasn't much of an issue. It looks much better than the stock line and seems to work just fine. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the rubber gasket on the crankcase end of the line can easily deform when the line is torqued into place. I had to reattach it after the first attempt because the gasket wouldn't even let me fully tighten it without rolling back the nut. On the second attempt after repositioning the gasket, I was able to tighten it just fine but the gasket still protrudes out the back of the nut a little which just doesn't seem right. (You have to be 6" from it to see that tho.) But it works and looks good so I'm happy. The price was also a little better than the braided hose options.
