Easy to install, took it slow to make sure I didn't scratch anything in the install process. Sounds great, looks great. When starting out in 1st gear bike used to have a lack of power. That is gone, throttle response is instant know. Should have replaced it last year. Just ordered fuel tuner, can't wait to feel the difference when that's installed.

Fast shipping from PartsGiant and great communication. It took about an hour to install, but hey, I'm an old guy who don't move as fast as I used to. Easy bolt up install. Looks great and sounds better! Nice throaty growl, but not ear splitting. Nice increase in performance. Next I'm going to order the Cobra Fi2000R fuel controller. I'm happy!

Very fast shipping, I don't know who packed the box at Cobra but they love to use newspaper, to the point I lost the pack with the heat shield and bolts in that mess. Anyway, fairly easy install, if you can remove the old one you can install this one. The only thing I can say I don't like is its louder than I wanted for my Stryker, it sounds good but it's loud.

2009 vstar 950. 3 fasteners to remove muffler. Cobra sent new hardware. Installation was very easy. Fired up the bike and was very pleased. It feels safer having a bit extra noise to make others aware of me. Great value in my opinion. Louder than i thought it would be.

This slip on was very easy to put on and just the right loud growl when you hit the throttle and when you let off the throttle just a nice sound and you can't beat the price. I did remap my bike but I don't think you have to with this slip on. I didn't hear the difference after remapping the bike, or feel difference.

Cobra Slip on Muffler for 2009 Yamaha V-Star 950 Tourer

The Cobra Slip on Muffler was easy to install. Took 20 minutes to remove old muffler and install new one. Everything lined up perfectly. Prior to starting up bike I used Chrome Polish to clean off all prints and dirt from new muffler from installation. When I started up the bike Heaven's Gates opened up. Now it sounds like I have a motorcycle. Should not annoy the neighbors yet manly enough that the bike sounds respectable. Once I got it on the road and the muffler warmed up it seems to get even louder, which I loved. I am 100% satisfied with Parts Giant and the Product.

Questions & Answers

  • Do you have to tune the bike after installation or do anything to the electronic fuel injection?

    By: Robert

While you can probably get away with installing a slip-on exhaust by itself, to get the best possible throttle response and engine performance, it's always best to get some sort of fueling modification device. Basically, any time you change the way air gets into or out of, the motor, you'll want to adjust fueling appropriately to maximize any performance gains available from the new setup.

To go along with any Cobra Exhaust, we recommend the Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Tuner Fuel Controller. They're simple to install and do a great job of adjusting your bike's fueling without requiring a trip to the dyno.

  • are thes hard to put on a 2010 kawasaki vulcan 1700 classic do you have to have gasket

    By: rooster

Installation of these slip-on mufflers for the Vulcan 1700 Classic is a rather straight-forward affair. With simple hand tools, you should be able to get the job done in an hour or two. All required installation hardware is included in the box, though you will need to re-use some of the OEM exhaust components to affix the new mufflers to your bike. So long as you have the stock exhaust on your bike, you have everything you need to do the work.

  • Will installing the muffler without a fuel management device hurt the motor in any way?

    By: Woody

You're probably no going to hurt anything by installing these mufflers without adjusting fuel delivery. The only exception to that would be if you did most of your riding at higher altitudes (5,000 feet and up) as the OEM maps may not be able to handle the added exhaust flow and the reduced oxygen availability.

For the most part, the OEM mapping will handle the fueling changes needed without issue. Of course, there's only one way to find out for sure. Basically, after installation, if you find the bike responds to throttle commands without hesitation and doesn't feel like it misfires at a steady throttle, then you should be all set and there''s no need to worry about re-mapping the bike for the new exhaust.
