Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Is there a special tool to use that will fit properly. To remove on a 2014 yz450f.

No special tools are require just standard hand tools to access and install the filter. It will be held in place using the original inserts and screws from the OE Yamaha filter frame, but the OE frame will not be re-used. All K&N filters include detailed installation instructions and service tips for use.

Answer Question

Do you have to remove all the screws each time you want to change the filter?

Do you have to remove all the screws to change the filter, or does it slip in and out of the frame?

It really depends on what machine you have the kit installed on. For most bikes, removing the complete filter assembly is the same as the stock foam filter - you just have to unscrew the central locking post and the whole kit comes off. For bikes like the newer Yamaha YZ250F and YZ450F where the air filter is in front of the fuel tank, then yes - you'll have remove all of the screws in order to change the air filter.
