Easy to install. Almost love the sound. It's really close to the sound I'm after. High end they sound like they are exploding in a trash can. Kinda tinny. 2005 Kawasaki VN1600D Vulcan 1600 Nomad

Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Does this eliminate the catalytic converter?

Yes, that's correct. Snice the Cobra True Duals exhaust system for the Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad completely replaces the stock exhaust, the OEM catalytic convertors would be removed. You get everything to replace the entire system from headers to mufflers.

Answer Question

will this exhaust system work on a 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT

These pipes are not compatible with the 2015 Kawasaki VN900D Vulcan 900 Classic LT. Cobra currently does not produce any True Dual system for the Kawasaki VN900D Vulcan 900 Classic LT models at this time.

Answer Question

Does this system have removable baffles ?

The baffles for this exhaust system are welded in place, they are non-removable. The ends of these mufflers are wide open, the baffle is set back 4-6 inches into the muffler body.

Answer Question

Will this exhaust make the bike louder.

Yes this exhaust system will be much louder than the factory Kawasaki exhaust.

Answer Question

Would I need to rejet for a 1999 Vulcan Nomad which is carbureted

Yes, if you expect your machine to run correctly, we highly recommend that you rejet your bike. The good news is that we have a Cobra carburetor jet kit that's a perfect match for their Vulcan Nomad exhaust from Cobra. The included instructions explain exactly how to install and configure your bike's jetting to get the most out of this, or any other Cobra exhaust we sell.

Answer Question

Do I need a fuel management system or new intake with this exhaust system?

I have a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600

If your bike is completely stock, yes - you'll most certainly want to adjust fuel delivery upon the installation of this, or any other full exhaust system we sell. Basically, the change in exhaust flow requires that you tune the bike if you expect it to run correctly. Fortunately, Cobra produces an easy-to-install and tune Fi2000r Fuel Controller for the Vulcan Nomad. The device comes with simple-to-understand instructions that'll guide you though installation and configuration, all without a trip to the dyno. With that tuner properly configured, you can expect improved throttle response and better engine performance on your bike.

Answer Question

The catalytic converter was removed by the previous owner. Will these pipes work without connecting to a catalytic converter?

As this particular exhaust replaces the entire exhaust system, it makes no difference as to whether or not the bike has an exhaust catalyst on it. This is due to the fact that there's no provision for fitting it to the True Duals Slashdown exhaust system.

Answer Question

Does this include the pipes from the heads on? Replaces all old parts?

Yes, this exhaust system from Cobra completely replaces the OEM exhaust system on any of the bikes you choose from our fit guide. That is to say, it comes with primary headers, mid-pipes and mufflers. It also includes all required installation hardware (and instructions) to finish the job. Though, depending on what bike it is that you have, you may need to re-use some of the sock exhaust's mounting hardware (eg. header flange bolts, muffler hanger brackets &etc.), in order to complete the installation. So long as you have the stock exhaust on your bike, you have everything you need.
