Nice kit. Has everything needed for a calculation-free install with a variety of Cobra pipes and configurations. Has an idle mixture tool with odd shaped screws. The slide spring was like 1/3 the length of my stock one. I had doubts about a clip that big, but wow, throttle responds like I'm merely thinking it. Excellent value, quality, and easy as pie to install. Not one regret, and I usually can find something to complain on.

Questions & Answers

  • For a 2004 Suzuki Intruder 1400 using a Cobra slip-on exhaust with stock air filters and headers, what parts come with the cobra jet kit and what is needed for my application?

    By: Mike

Each kit for the 2004 Suzuki Intruder 1400 includes:

    2 fuel needles

    2 E-clips

    2 adjusting washers

    1 slide drill

    1 plug drill

    1 screw

Of those components, for your particular setup, you'll need to drill the slide lift hold in each carburetor with the included 7/64" slide drill. After that's done, install the needles that come with the Cobra jet kit and insert the E-clip into the third grove from the top. If you're running an exhaust without baffles, put the E-clip into the second slot from the top.

After that, use the included 5/32" plug drill to drill through the fuel mixture plugs. Just be careful not to drill through the mixture screw once you've gotten through each fuel mixture plug. With that plug out of the way, adjust the mixture screw until it's out 2-1/2 turns from full-in.

You'll find that, once you've completed this work as directed, your bike will run a lot better, especially at cruising speeds or whenever you grab a handful of throttle. Any surging will go away and the engine will respond to your commands much more readily.

  • I have a 04 yamaha vstar 1100 it have a 2 into 1 header exhaust and cone air filters

It spits and sputter like its runnin out of fuel at about half throttle and it wont go over 60 mph and it starts coffing wondering if the jet kit will fix it

    By: Guest

In your particular case, that sounds exactly like a fueling issue. A jet kit would almost certainly improve, if not totally solve the sputtering and poor running conditions you're having.

    By: Staff

  • 99 honda valkyrie. Does it come for all 6 carbs?

    By: Jcdtruckn

Yes, every Cobra jet kit for the Honda Valkyrie comes with enough parts to service all six carburetors on that machine. The includes Valkyrie jet kit instructions also do an excellent job of explaining not only how to install the everything, but also how to set it up for your bike's specific needs. It is an excellent Valkyrie jet kit!

  • My 99 vstar 650 bogs down and sputters at 50-70mph. Will a jet kit fix this? I don't know what size jets I need

    By: Guest

Cobra's V-Star 650 jet kit is designed for motorcycle running an aftermarket exhaust of some kind and either the stock, or an aftermarket air intake. Depending on what's causing your running issue, this jet kit may not be your answer. If the engine is bogging at wide open throttle, that usually means the engine is starving for fuel and may be too lean. If you are at those speeds, you may have a float height issue in your carb. If you have recently made changes such as an exhaust or new intake, you would need to tune your carburetor to match the new flow rate. Then this jet kit should help you out. If you can recreate that issue at low speeds under heavy load, say 5th gear, 25 mph, wide open throttle, you likely have an ignition issue.

    By: Staff

  • in this kit, what size are the jets for xv1100?

    By: jet size

Cobra's jet kit for Yamaha's V-Star 1100 comes with main jets ranging in size from 104 to 112. The kit also comes with springs, adjusting washers, fuel needs and a set of instructions to show you exactly how to get your bike set up for the best possible throttle response and engine power output.

    By: Staff

  • Is this kit for 1 or both carbs? S-83

    By: Ray

The S83 jet kit comes with enough parts to service both carburetors on that machine. You only need to purchase one jet kit to properly adjust fueling on your bike.

    By: Staff

  • Will it work on a Honda Shadow vt750c?

    By: Guest

Yes, we have a Cobra jet kit that'll fit a 1998 through 2001 model year Honda VT750C Shadow 750 A.C.E. and the 2004-2009 Honda VT750C Shadow 750 Aero. Just choose your machine from our fit guide and we'll get the proper jet kit on its way to you, we guarantee it!

    By: Staff

  • What size main jets are in this kit? I have a 2002 V star 650. I drilled out the exhaust baffels and was told a 160 to 170 main jet will fix my "popping" and running lean problem.

    By: Foofees

The popping that you're dealing with is more likely the result of air inversion, not jetting. That is to say, when you pull the baffles, the mufflers draw cold air which causes unburned fuel in the exhaust to ignite and burn (pop). The only remedy for this would be to replace the baffles in the muffler as jetting wouldn't solve that problem.

    By: Staff

  • Is this the jet kit for a 1992 Suzuki Intruder vs800 with the cobra slash tip exhaust pipes?

The bike worked fine then I put on the cobra slash tip pipes and the bike ran like crap and my buddy said I needed to rejet the carbs?

    By: Guest

Yes, this Intruder 800 jet kit would certainly help out with your situation. While fuel-injected bikes do fairly well when going from a stock bike to aftermarket slip-on mufflers, carbureted bikes almost always need to be re-jetted to work with any new exhaust, be it a full system or just a set of slip-ons.

Cobra's jet kits are specifically designed to work with Cobra mufflers (and full exhausts) as they come with a range of jetting components to work with both configurations. Best of all, the included instructions do a great job of explaining what to use in order to get your bike running correctly. You can't go wrong adding a Cobra jet kit to your Cobra exhaust-equipped bike!

  • Hi I, have a 2006 Honda VTX 1300, I was wondering what size jets come with this kit? I want to go with the Powerflow Air intake and need to know if the sizes I need will be in the kit.

    By: Paul

The VTX1300 jet kit from Cobra comes with main jets ranging in size from 180 all the way up to 200. In addition, you'll get an adjustable fuel needle as well. With that arrangement, you'll have pretty much everything you need to get the most out of that air intake.

  • I have a 91 Honda shadow VT600

i previously bought the cobra drag pipes for this bike and the carb is having troubl ewith fueling the engine now. i have the feeling that the airflow as well as the jets are the problem as the bike will pop and sputter and refuses to do anything that requires loading the engine too much. will this kit help resolve my problem?

    By: burger23000

In the event you went from a completely stock bike to a set of Drag Pipes without adjusting fuel delivery, yes - this would explain the problems you're having now. You will need to modify fuel delivery so your bike will run correctly. The Cobra jet kit comes with everything you need to solve your fueling problems along with a set of easy-to-follow instructions that'll help you get your motor running right!

You'll find the bike will run a lot better once you put the Shadow 600 jet kit in your carburetor!

  • 2005 honda shadow vt750c aero with cobra exhaust, stock intake- which jet kit is best for me?

    By: Josh

This kit for the 2004-2009 model year Honda VT750C Shadow 750 Aero would work for your application. It will include the proper jets and tuning instructions to work with your Cobra exhaust. It also has enough jets if you were to modify the air intake to jet up to stage two as well.

  • 2003 Honda Shadow ace with low boy exhausts and k&n air filter

The exhaust backfires on deceleration, will this help?

    By: Paul

If you do not already have a jet kit installed, this should help you tune it to get rid of some of that afterburn from being lean.

  • I just bought a bike that had cobra pipes installed. Guy said it needed jetted because it was popping and when I'm doing about 50 or over it would stall out like it's running out of gas but then gain it's power back, after riding it awhile it died on me and would start up and idle no problem but once I took it back on the road it would die again but after letting it sit for a day or so I could ride it again would getting this jet kit work? What size pilot jets should be in the carb with this kit? 03 Honda 750 ace

    By: James

Yes, you'd absolutely need a jet kit to get your bike running correctly again!

The pilot jet isn't so much the matter with your bike, but rather, the main jet since it's faultering on you while at speed (when the main jet does its work). In fact, there's no pilot jet included with Cobra's jet kit for the Honda Shadow 750 ACE. As far as what specific components to you, that's difficult to say without knowing exactly where you're riding, altitude wise.

No less, the kit to fit your machine includes a range of jets, along with some very useful instructions, to help you get the jetting correct for your particular riding needs.

Upon installation and correct configuration of the Cobra jet kit, you can expect the problems you're having to be completely eliminated.

The proper jets to fuel your bike correctly are included along with a set of easy-to-follow instructions that'll help you get the bike properly set up for the new exhaust.

  • Is this kit for both carbs?

    By: jerry

Cobra jet kits come with everything you need to service all the OEM carburetors on your machine. If your machine comes equipped with two carburetors, then yes - Cobra's carburetor jet kits have enough components in them to service two carburetors. Everything you need is in one box so you only need to buy one kit to tune your bike!

  • 1998 suzuki intruder 1400, stock air filter. jardine pipes with the baffles drilled out

lots of backfire on decel and just a few pops under very minor throttle. power drops off and sputters at high end of rpm's. what do i need to get rid of the backfires and give me my power back on the top end?

    By: TravisF

The first thing you'll want to do is be absolutely sure there are no leaks within the exhaust system. Any extra air coming in between pipe joints can induce the combustion of unburned fuel as it leaves the motor. As far as the jet kit in question, it'll certainly help your fueling problems provided you haven't already made any changes to the carburetor's stock setup. Cobra's jet kit is designed to work specifically with their Boulevard exhaust system on a bike with the OEM air filter setup. Given that you've drilled out those baffles, this jet kit would be a close, if not perfect match to solve your fueling problems. The bigger main jets included in the kit will help with your top end problems and the fuel needles will help all-around throttle response.

  • Is this the kit i would need if installing the cobra classic slashcut exhaust system on my 2002 honda shadow ACE?

    By: Matt

For 2002 Shadow 750 ACE Honda jet kit, yes - this kit is a perfect match for that, or any other Cobra exhaust you could find to fit that bike. The instructions that are included do an excellent job of explaining how to get the kit installed as well. An evening in the garage and you should be all set!

  • should I drill the slides on my 2003 suzuki 1500 intruder for more proformance

I've installed the larger jets, front cylinder needle e clip in the 4th groove, rear cylinder 3rd groove. Front cylinder mixture screw 3.5 out, rear cylinder 4 out. Still pops when letting off, also seems to hang a little when shifting gears

    By: Guest

It sounds more like an air leak issue than a carburetion problem. The best place to start would be to look for any intake or exhaust leaks before doing any other mods. Check all the intake and exhaust fittings for leaks and then see how the bike runs. From there, you should have a pretty good idea of where to go.
