how does the seat attach to the frame?

It really depends on what machine it is that you have. In most cases, you may need to re-use at least some of the OEM Harley Davidson seat mounting hardware in order to fit it to your machine. Wherever extra seat mounting hardware is required, it's included in the kit. Often, in the case of the Harley Solo Buttcrack at least - this means there's a bracket included in the the box that allows it to be fastened securely to the OEM seat mounts. So long as you have the stock seat still attached to your bike, or at least - you have all the bolts and hardware used for attaching the original seat it, you should have no problem fitting the Buttcrack Solo Harley Davidson seat to your bike.

Yes, all required installation hardware is included with this seat to have it fit any of the machines listed in our store. Mind you, the kit will require that you retain some of your machine's OEM hardware for re-use during its installation. The installation instructions that are also in the box will tell you everything you need to know to complete the job.
