Does the chain cover fit in and work like a case saver?

Assuming the kit you'd receive with your order includes a sprocket cover, then yes, that's correct. I don't know what machine it is that you have, but once you select your exact model from our fit guide, if you see a sprocket cover in the image, then you'll receive a Boyesen ignition cover kit with the sprocket cover. The Boysen sprocket cover is designed precisely to do case saver work and take the beating in the event of a chain failure, hopefully saving the engine case.
