The top reed is lightweight and resilient for crisp throttle response at partial throttle or low RPMs. The stiffer, bottom reed is ported to provide maximum flow and horsepower at higher RPMs. More valves equals more power by creating:

The dual-stage design allows you to replace your stock reed stop with a Rev-Plate which permits the reeds to open freely and function efficiently.
More Air Velocity
The multi-port feature of the bottom reed creates more channels for the charge, delivering increased velocity to the intake ports.

Dual-stage reeds work in unison to perform efficiently throughout the entire powerband. The difference in stiffness between the top reed and the bottom reed allow the reeds to respond quickly and accurately to changes in engine pressure. This translates into quicker acceleration, crisper throttle response and increased horsepower throughout the powerband.

I have a 24 yz250x and the reeds have a factory restrictor plate, I see those reeds have a metal bar, do I need to put the restrictor plate on over that bar
You would use the included plate instead of the stock plate for installation/use of the Power Reeds.

1980 yt125 has one continuous reed top and bottom 2 screws securing each
If you look at the reed cage on your machine, it actually has a split down the middle on which the two pedals of each reed would rest. The Boyesen design, supposedly, performs better than stock since the reed can react more quickly to the air column as it comes through. If you were to choose the 1980 Yamaha YT125 Tri-Moto reeds from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct parts to fit your machine.

I have a 99 kawasaki kx80 and i want to pick up a set but wondering do they bolt right onto the oem equipment?
Yes, these particular reeds will fit the OEM valve without any other modifications. Just remove the old reeds, put these on and you're all set!
