Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Black Fuel Controller

Cobra's PowrPro Black Fuel Tuner is only suitable for machines equipped with a full exhaust system and/or air intake kit. This tuner is not suitable for use on stock motorcycles or even bikes with a slip-on exhaust.

An improved version of the original Cobra PowrPro fuel tuner, uses the latest accelerometer enabled software for precise real-time tuning. The tuner uses faster smart chip and accelerometer technology to continuously read the bike's EFI delivery every time the motorcycle accelerates in order to optimize the air/fuel mixture for the best performance. With Cobra's patent-pending Continuously Variable Tuning (CVT)technology, the PowerPro Black makes motorcycle fuel-injection tuning a snap with the option for fine-tuning non-acceleration fuel via Bluetooth technology and a smart phone-based app.

Should you need to adjust your bike's air/fuel ratio outside of the acceleration area, you can do that with your smart device. Simply go to your app store and search for the Power Pro Black app. Simple instructions on the app will guide you through the available tuning options.

Through the PowrPro Black app you will be able to:

  • Monitor the injector duty cycle to determine fuel injector performance
  • Add fuel for specific engine modifications tuning the low RPM and cruising fuel zones
  • Evaluate and monitor how much fuel the unit adds in specific tuning zones with a circular graph as well as light across the bottom of the screen
  • Take fuel away for specific tuning requirements
  • View RPM in real time
  • Simple reset tools allows you to return the unit to its stock settings

Advancements in circuit boards and accelerometers have made it possible to do things today not possible just a few years ago in the art and science of controlling fuel mixture through remote adjustments.

Older so-called auto-tune systems rely on O2 sensors that must be installed in the exhaust to adjust the air/fuel ratio according to a preset map, but varying conditions can render that EFI mapping less than ideal. And regardless of how many dyno runs you perform, you always end up with only one EFI map which may not provide the optimum setting for the way you'll be riding tomorrow, next month or next year.

Unlike other systems, PowrPro Black offers plug-in performance: no bungs, no oxygen sensors, no computer hook-ups or downloads, no sorting through a bewildering array of EFI maps to find one that's just right. And there is no need to run the bike on the dyno to tune or verify tuning settings. Simply plug the PowrPro into your bike's existing wiring harness and immediately enjoy continuously variable tuning as PowrPro Black delivers the optimum fuel mixture instantly and dynamically.

Product Note: Only fits US Models. Only for use on machines equipped with a full exhaust system with, or without an air cleaner kit.

The Power Pro Black is great.

Sportster 883

So easy to install. Bike runs and sounds so much better. Installed this with the cobra 909 exhaust. Plug it in and done. Took a few days for the progressive learning, but it’s awesome.

Works great on my vtx 1800

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Have a 2005 VTX1800n3. When I bought it from the original owner the thing popped loudly on decel and was embarrassing to ride. I live in eastern Idaho highlands. No emissions here, so bye bye to everything smog. Block off plates, o2 deletes, Cobra longshots, Kuryakyn Pro R hyper charger and this power pro black fuel tuner. Zero pops and this bike pulls hard! I Have 3 brothers with vtxs with all different set ups and I pull away every time! I know there are better intakes but...

Victor Vegas power pro black very nice.

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I personally installed the fi2000 black and I really like it. The Bluetooth works great. It still backfires some time but it’s way less and I can go to my phone and see the fuel changes that the power pro does. It tells how much fuel is added from the stock settings. I put it on my Victory Vegas and it is quicker and feels better. Installing it wasn’t to bad. Kinda a pain to get to the front fuel injectors but I was able to figure it out. Instructions could of been better. But over all I’m very happy with it.

Expensive, but it works better than anything else out there.

By   on

Makes the bike run a lot better, and my mileage jumped from 32 MPG to 40 MPG. Pricey, but it works, and is not a POT that needs to be tuned for a specific sea level A/F mix.

Best card yet!

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Awesome, everything is handled while I am riding. Wonderful for the stage 2, and stage 1 riders looking for a sporty ride or just cruising. The app on my phone makes it all too easy. Do the money, you just can’t go wrong.

So far it is GREAT

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Installation was quick with easy to install instructions. I ran the tuner for a couple of days before I had to use the blue tooth app to adjust for fuel take away while idling and also for fuel take away in cruise and acceleration mode. I have a reprogrammed ECU installed in along with this tuner and I feel that these upgrades make a HUGE performance gain over stock. Great job to Cobra USA!

Outstanding Product with solid results!

Outstanding product with easy installation. This thing is for the rider who does not want to mess with the hassle of custom mapping. It really is plug and play and the results are exceptional. Cobra makes a top tier product coupled with some of the best customer service in the biz, so purchase for me was a no brainer! Thanks for allowing me to give my two cents worth.

Great product, poor app developement.

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Great product. Worked well. Only issue I have is the connectivity to android. I have a note9 and it won't connect to it. Says it's connected and just sits trying to retrieve data.

It solved my problem, with one minor challenge

By   on  Verified Purchaser

The previous owner of my bike made some alterations to the exhaust and fuel controller that needed to be fixed. Cobra to the rescue. I installed this module and a Cobra exhaust and the performance is improved vs. the previous owners modifications. One note: using an Android phone, the unit initially asked me for a PIN to connect the bluetooth. After much Googling, come to find you need to go into the app settings to grant all permissions manually before bluetooth will work. Otherwise the hardware install was pretty straight forward.

Good controller. Nice features. Needs big fixes and improvements.

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Love the fuel controller. The Bluetooth connection is a very nice feature when you get it to work on Android (must enable all app permissions). Though, the software itself could use some additional features and bug fixes, as the fuel adjustment slider does not function well on my Galaxy s10. Otherwise, very nice controller. A bit high priced.

I like

Seems like it's working pretty good. I like the Bluetooth ability.

Answer Question

2019 fury with stock air cleaner and cobra swept exhaust. Will this still show performance improvement?

It is actually recommended to install a fuel controller when upgrading your exhaust system. When using a fuel controller along with performance upgrades, you will achieve a better running bike.

Answer Question

Will I still need to dyno the bike.

I am looking at putting the downswept cobra short pipes on my 2012 Honda vtx1300cx, will this controller replace the need to put the on the dyno to rejet in order to prevent the backfiring/popping noises that will come with the reduced backpressure? Or will I still need to do that as well?

With this device, there's no need for a trip to the dyno. Just follow the included instructions regarding installation and setup to get everything dialed in. After that, the system will automatically adjust fuel delivery as-needed so you get the most out of your new exhaust system. As to your backfiring question, that's really an issue with exhaust leakage, more than anything. In other words, if the pipes are not installed correctly, or perhaps you have a damaged exhaust gasket somewhere in the system, that'll allow air to enter the exhaust and help ignite any unburnt fuel that happens to make it into the system. Just take your time with the installation of the pipe and setting up the Fi2000R and you shouldn't have any problems with your new set up!

Answer Question

I have a 2019 HD Freewheeler, just purchased Cobra 909 Slip ons and Cobra Cone Air Intake Chrome, can I expect a significant improvement with this unit or is a Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3 Fuel Tuner a better choice?

I have a 2019 HD Freewheeler, just purchased Cobra 909 Slip ons and Cobra Cone Air Intake ,can I expect a significant improvement with this unit or is a Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3 Fuel Tuner a better choice?

Generally speaking, for Cobra products, we always recommend Cobra tuners since they're designed in conjunction with other Cobra products, such as the exhaust. If you were putting mostly Vance & Hines components on your machine, we'd recommend the FP3 instead, and for the same reason. As far as unlocking additional power, you can expect an improvement in throttle response, and a little more power when adding a slip-on and intake kit. Throttle response, actually, is what you'll notice most when riding the bike after adding those two components. That, and the engine will sound louder thanks to the new intake, though not the exhaust so much. For a significant improvement in power output, you have to replace the stock headers since that houses the most restrictive part of the entire air/fuel system, the catalysts. With that removed, and properly tuned, you can certainly expect a significant improvement in power output.

Answer Question

I have a 2009 Yamaha Road Star Worrior. I have added the Big Radius exhaust and it is running lean , I think as I am not a mechanic and that is what I see by looking at plugs. Is this the 1 I need for this situation.?

Yes, this would be a perfect match for your particular machine's configuration. Just set it up as directed using the free iOS or Android app, and you'll be all set to get the best possible engine power and throttle response out of your bike!

Answer Question

Would this work with a 2016 Yamaha bolt with the Vance and Hines twin slash exhaust?

Yes, you would indeed fit the Fi2000 PowrPro Black fuel controller suitable for your needs. While it's been developed by Cobra, it'll work with just about every Yamaha Bolt exhaust system from all the major manufacturers, including Vance & Hines. Just install it as noted in the instructions, use the iOS or Android app to get it dialed in for your bike's specific tuning needs and hit the road!

Answer Question

Do I need to get my bike dyno

This Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Black eliminates the need for Dyno tuning and map downloads of the past. This unit will automatically tune the motorcycle based off of engine sensors that are already present on modern fuel injected motorcycles for the best power and performance with the twist of a wrist. As long as you select your exact make model and model year from our drop down menu you would have the unit to fit your ride.

Answer Question

Where are these normally bolted on 06 FLHTCUI

The Cobra Fi2000R fuel controllers are mounted to the left side of the battery near the positive terminal in the open space between the battery and the frame on the 2006 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI Ultra Classic Electra Glide. They are held in place using the provided zip ties for the harness and hook and loop fasteners for the control unit.

By Staff
Answer Question

Can I install this myself?

As far as aftermarket accessories go, there's not much to installing these fuel controllers. So long as you have a set of metric wrenches and sockets along with a screw driver, you have everything you need to put this on your machine. The only other requirement is an iOS or Android smartphone so you can configure the tuner to work for your bike's specific needs.

By Staff
Answer Question

Besides throttle response, what other benefits will I receive from a $500 investment in one of these?

When matched with a good, complete Harley-Davidson aftermarket exhaust system, you can expect power gains over the bike in completely stock form. The tuner allows you to add fuel where it's required in order to get the most out of a full exhaust Harley system.

Answer Question

Will this controller fit my 2004 VZ1600 Marauder?

No, Cobra does not produce a PowrPro Black to fit the 2004 Marauder. They do have a standard Fi2000R, which uses the same installation scheme and requires no smartphone to make changes. For such a simple unit, it's actually a really nice tool to have for making fuel delivery adjustments.

Answer Question

Stock 2008 m109r, want to add bassani exaust. what would be the best fuel controller for this bike?

You're probably looking at the best user-adjustable tuner we have on hand for the M109R. Mind you, it requires the use of an iPhone in order to make any adjustments to the tuner. If you don't have that type of phone, then go with the Suzuki M109R Fi2000R. It's also a very capable tuner, but instead of the iPhone interface, you only need to adjust one of three knobs on the unit itself in order to make fuel delivery changes.

Answer Question

Will this controller increase rpm limiter on a Honda fury

Cobra Fi2000 fuel controllers have no provision for adjusting engine RPM on any motorcycle. To do that, you may wish to have a look at a Honda Fury Dynojet Power Commander V with Ignition Control. The ignition control function is what will allow you to raise the RPM ceiling on your machine. If that's what you're after, then the Dynojet Power Commander V with Ignition Control for the Honda Fury will do the job!

Answer Question

Does this tuner marry to your bike?

Cobra's PowrPro Black isn't married to the ECU. It works in real time, constantly updating fuel delivery in order to produce the best possible throttle response and power output within the range that you specify using the Cobra tuning app. It's not a flash tune device like the FP3 from Vance & Hines (which is, in fact, married to the machine its initially set up on). Of course, once you remove the PowrPro Black from your machine, fuel delivery is returned to stock configuration.

Answer Question

02 FLHRI

My 02 Road King FLHRI has a 95" kit and an aftermarket O2 sensor added for the current Fuel control system. What changes will I need to make to run this?

Given that your bike has a big-bore kit installed, unfortunately - the PowrPro black wouldn't be suited for the task. Your best bet would be to speak with a tuner you trust so as to determine the proper aftermarket tuning kit for your specific needs. At the moment, all of the aftermarket fuel mapping kits we have are designed to work with stage one modifications: air intake or exhaust system changes. Anything outside of that and you're going to need to put the bike on a dyno in order to realize the best possible benefit of outlier-type modifications.

Answer Question

2016 Vaqureo ABS

recently installed true dual exhaust and have significant backfiring on decelleration. Will this unit correct the problem by simply adjustable fuel air parameters? Bike currently hesitates at 2500 rpm to 3300 rpm with some improvement from the new exhaust. Factory tech said "it's normal" but I am not happy with that explanation.

What you're dealing with is actually the result of two separate issues. The backfiring could be the result of a poor seal somewhere on the exhaust system or on the intake side of your bike. You'll want to be sure that the air intake is bolted up to specification from the cylinder head to the airbox itself. Once you've done that, take a look at the exhaust and be sure that everything is assembled straight and all bolts are snug. If you're running the exhaust without baffles installed, try putting them back in as that will contribute to fresh air inversion (sucking air in through the end of the pipes) between exhaust pulses. When that happens, backfiring will commence when you close the throttle. Furthermore, in the case of Japanese bikes like yours, the PAIR valve (aka charcoal box / smog box) will deliberately introduce fresh air into the exhaust to fire unburned fuel in order to meet emissions regulations. If the PAIR valves located on the cylinder heads get stuck, they just dump fresh air into the exhaust the whole time and will also cause backfiring. Have a look up there to be sure they're working correctly. You may also wish to consider installing some smog block off plates for your bike to mitigate this problem completely. As for the hesitation you're experiencing, that is almost certainly a fuel delivery problem. The bike is running too lean as a result of the freer-flowing exhaust and it isn't at all unusual when no fueling modifications have been performed with the installation of a full exhaust system. The Cobra PowrPro Black, when properly configured, will certainly solve that problem.

Answer Question

Do i have to make any adjustments to the power pro or it will do it it self, im going to install the Cobra Speedster Swept Exhaust System on my 2015 kawasaki vulcan 900 classic lt, do i need to make any adjustments to the Powerpro black ?

For the PowrPro Black, you can just install it on your bike and hit the road. You don't need to make any adjustments, even after you install the exhaust system. The device continually measures acceleration and compares that to the ECU signals coming through and adjust fueling to suit. It'll get better as you ride too and you'll notice that the bike responds to throttle input better and engine output will be increased. The more you ride, the better it will get, too. Of course, should you find that it's not doing what you want in certain situations, you can use the PowrPro Black iOS or Android app to make fueling adjustments that are more to your liking. All of this is explained in the user interface when you open the Cobra PowrPro Black app.
