Charging system for Harley Fat Boy

This is a great charging kit, Compu-Fire. Ventilated rotor, higher amperage charging, especially at lower RPMs. Would buy this kit again in a heartbeat, no dim lights at low RPM etc. When I get home from riding and plug in my tender, it immediately goes to float mode. Great high quality product!. Now the bad: Claimed to be an exact fit. Not so. It claims that the voltage regulator is a direct bolt on replacement with the bracket that they give you. Not even close. Had to fabricate my own plate to get it to fit. Also, the most pathetic instructions. For someone that has done many of these, probably not a problem but I have replaced stators 3 times in different bikes but the spacer situation was a bit confusing and the instructions are no help at all. Also, there are 3 different spacers, 1 for a Softail, 1 for a Dyna, and 1 for a Touring but they are not marked as to which is which. I was able to google a kit and see each spacer in a bag marked accordingly. My bags were not marked at all. You can try each one and then check your primary chain for straightness with a straight edge but it would make more sense for them to mark the spacers for people that would not know about that. One last issue on their part, on the voltage regulator, the hot wire and the ground wire are not marked and are the same color (but if you understand electronics you can trace the wires to where they go on the regulator and see one wire affixed to the regulator housing and know that is the ground wire). They crimped one ring terminal on the ground and nothing on the hot? Didn't understand the logic behind that. I would've assumed the one with the ring terminal was the hot one and the one without a ring terminal would be the ground that you would cut to length and crimp your own ring terminal on it and ground it to the frame or motor or whatever but I would've been wrong. I use to write curriculum for college courses, if they'd comp me, I'd write them a proper set of instructions, these are pretty poorly written. It's the only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars overall. Even the regulator not being a bolt on didn't bother me as much as the instructions. I'm pretty OCD, probably why it bugged me but the product is a quality kit, even the wiring and the connectors are high quality.
