This is my second compu fire I'm installing. Got 30 thousand miles on last one. The winding wire broke. Tested by certified shop. Looking for a OEM part showed wait period of 200 days. Stay away from cheap alternators. Got burnt twice..500 miles was the best they could do. Good luck ...got to ride!

Have replaced 6 or 7 alternators on my two gold wings, all of them going out on long trips. I replaced all of them with as cheap as I could find alternators (Chinese junk). This time I bit the bullet and searched for "Made in America" brands. This is the only one I found and it reportedly produces 150 amps, which is twice the amperage of the ones I usually purchased. Time will tell. Maybe the old saying "you get what you pay for" will be true.
