  • is this solenoid compatible with a 1986 heritage softtail classic?

    description says it is with an 86 heritage but only an 88 heritage classic....thanks

    So far as we know, the Heritage Softail Classic wasn't built until the 1987 model year. No less, these solenoids are designed to fit big twin models built from 1965 to 1988, so you shouldn't have a problem fitting this unit to your bike if you were to select any of the Softail models within that year range.

  • I have a 1979 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH. I don't think I need a "high-performance" starter solenoid, but I can't seem to find a none "high-performance" starter solenoid that matches my year and model on your site. Will this solenoid be okay or being high-perfomance will it cause damage to my otherwise stock system?

    This particular unit is designed to withstand a higher current than the OEM starter solenoid, but other than that - it can be used on an otherwise stock motorcycle with no detrimental effect on any other electrical components. It doesn't amplify the output current in any way, merely relays it in the same manner as the original part it replaces. For this reason, it'll work without issue even on a completely stock machine.
