    Without knowing exactly what machine it is that you have, it's impossible to say what's included in the kit.

    What I can tell you is that these kits aren't designed to replace worn out clutch parts, but rather, they're designed to make the OEM clutch perform well on machines with bigger tires. Specifically, if you have 28-29-1/2" mud tires on your machine, the kit shifts power delivery where it needs to be in order to give you good drive with the larger tires in muddy conditions.

  • Other than having less power at altitude, what does the altitude have to do with the clutch?

    I have a 2011 Ranger XP 800 EFI, I live at 4200 feet msl and most of my wheeling is above 4000 " msl. I am installing 28" ITP tires. Do you recommend another clutch kit or do I need one?

    The high-altitude clutch kits just move the RPMs higher up for the point of engagement. In this way, it makes up for the power loss (though, not completely) that comes with high-altitude operation. Now, the combination of bigger tires and operating at high altitude - yes, yes you do want to install a clutch kit, at the very least for the tires you've got on there. And yes, we do recommend that you choose the high altitude option. Of course, the only downside to all of this is that you will lose top speed. If that's a bit of a priority, then go with the bigger tire option. If hauling cargo or pulling a heavy load is of a great concern, then go for the big tire, high altitude clutch kit.

    As it stands, for your machine at least, EPI doesn't make a high-altitude mudder kit. They do have a sport utility clutch kit that will fit, and it's available for a machine such as yours with bigger tires that operates at higher elevations. For all-around use for your machine, we'd recommend that particular kit.
