Rick's Motorsports CDI Box

I pulled my hair out for weeks chasing wires and such. Changing the CDI box got me back up and running!

1998 Honda Fourtrax with oil light issue. With the old CDI the oil light did not come on for a few seconds when you turned machine on. Then, after about 10 minutes of riding the oil temp light would come on. Drove me nuts. I tried everything - checked all wiring, new thermostat, oil changes, oil pump test, pulled my hair out. On a whim I purchased this new CDI box and now it works as it should.

Fits a 79' Cb750k. Fixed my issues quick fast and in a hurry! Easier then screwing in a light bulb.

Replaced burned out pair of Honda CDI units. These work beautifully and easy installation too.

Instantly started after I put it on.

Box was a little bigger than original but works great.

I previously purchased a cheap Chinese made CDI box which did give me spark and got my Honda TRX300FW running. It caused a high oil temp light to come on after running 5-10 minutes. When you turn the key the high oil temp light is supposed to come on briefly then go out, it didn’t. I have run with the Rick’s CDI box for 15 minutes and the oil temp light works when you turn the key and it hasn’t came on as of yet. I haven’t drove my wheeler yet but plan to tomorrow to get my gear oil warmed up so I can replace it. Works like original Honda part at probably half the price.

I ordered a new CDI box because I wanted to update all my electronics on my 95 KLR before a long trip, I replaced the stator, the pick up coil and the ignition coil before I received the new CDI. As soon as I tried to install it I found it was to big for the mount so you have to bend the bracket a lot to fit and after starting the engine it had an intermittent miss, I reinstalled my original CDI and had no miss. I called Parts Giant and they told me to call Ricks since the part has no warranty (it would be nice of them to let you know that BEFORE you buy it).Ricks said they would do a one time exchange, I think they sent the same one back to me it had the same production date in 2018 and made in Argentina stamped on it. It did the same exact thing the first one did. I learned 2 things, if it is not broke don't fix it and if you fix it use OEM. I made the trip with zero problems with my stock 26 year old CDI.

ATV started right up, so far no problems, good job. Thank you very much, will be using again.

I guess I can't complain although it turned out to be a wasted $250. Didn't fix my issue.
