Great product, had a random no start condition. Rick's box is great

Bought 2 cheap China CDI boxes, both would give just enough spark to start, got one from Rick's put it on, all the difference in the world! Buy cheap, you get what you pay for, plus the time to install. ( disassemble front end).

I tried two other brands of CDI boxes on the repair of this ATV and both of them failed before getting to the end of the driveway. The Rick's CDI box works as expected. With the other work I did on the ATV it is now running better then when I bought it. This CDI box was half the price of an OEM unit. I will use Rick's again.

Part is good quality and fixed my low power problem perfectly.

I was warned by Leonard Duncan at Duncan racing that trying to find an aftermarket CDI box that worked well can be challenging. I purchased two of these one for my 1988 and one for my 1989. I can say I am very satisfied and was quite pleased that they seemed to perform at least as well as the original CDI boxes and perhaps even a bit better. I have had my 1989 for thirty five years so I know how it normally performs and it was right up to the normal performance.

After buying 3 15-20 dollar cdi's that did not work, I found this one. I installed it and the old honda ran perfect. When I need any other parts this is where I will order.

This is the exact thing that all stock 300ex's should have. Dealt with my stock cdi til the day she died and replaced it with this one. Noticeable rev difference on the limiter so you can really rev her out. Awesome product! Would recommend everyone to just rip out the stock one and buy this one.

Does this CDI work for a 1986 xl600r. And does it have the same timing curve as the original equipment. My CDI wen bad and I put on a cheap Chinese on. I have good spark with it but it nw has a violent kick back on the kick starter. I have to assume the timing curve on the cheap Chinese on is a little different. The bike has never kicked back before and I've owned it for a long time..

Yes, if you were to choose the 1986 Honda XL600R CDI from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct CDI to fit your machine. It uses the same timing curve as the OEM CDI it replaces, but allows for an extra 1,000RPM at the top of the rev range. Other than that, it's a plug-and-play installation that should work the same as stock.

If installing a Hot Shot CDI box, is it recommended to change from OEM spark plug as well

2008 Honda XR650L, if Hot Shot box is producing a "hotter spark", do I also need to change the plug to accommodate?

No, it's not a requirement. Unless, of course, the plug is showing signs of erosion or otherwise needs replacement. In most cases, you can put the new CDI in and get straight to riding.

This box on that Banshee will produce a hotter spark as well as provide an advanced ignition curve which in turn should create more power.

Yes, you should have no problem installing this Hot Shot CDI box on that 2005 TRX300EX. You would get a better ignition curve as well as higher rev limit.

Do you have a hot shot cdi box that fits/will work on a 2004 drz-400? I was going to buy the hot shot stator but not sure if it makes sense if I cant have a hot shot cdi box to put out the higher voltage? Would this one retrofit?

Rick's doesn't produce a high-output CDI for the Suzuki DR-Z400. The Hot Shot CDI is really doesn't require a higher input voltage, but rather - it modifies ignition timing, and for some models allows for a higher RPM limit. And yes, it also provides a hotter spark - but all of these are really circuitry changes for the sake of efficiency when compared to the stock CDI. Consequently, additional power isn't always required. The Hot Shot Stator for the DR-Z400 is ideal for machines with additional electrical accessories - bigger lights or maybe a heated vest hookup. Of course, the additional power output won't hurt a machine that's completely stock either since the rectifier won't have to work as hard at lower RPMs to keep the lights on.
