Moose Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild Kit Rear

This did not fit the stock front brake master cylinder on my 08 FE 550. The packaging says it should fit but the bore of the rebuild is about 1.6mm too large for the master cylinder. Bummer.

Not sure why my bike has such a shorter piston than what was sent in the kit. Luckily, my piston was salvageable. I did receive what is listed in the photo though. I was able to use the snap ring, both rubber seals, and the dust cover though. Front brake works great. I can stop on a dime and give you nine cents back now. 1988 Kawasaki KX80

My master cylinder had quit working because after 15+ years of use some of the brake fluid had solidified in the reservoir inlet and between the master cylinder seals. It took me two attempts to install this kit because I used a cleaner that caused the elastomers to swell up. This had nothing to do with the quality of the Moose kit. Instead of WD40 use a proper brake cleaning fluid that states on the label that the fluid does not attack elastomers. My other piece of advice would be to verify that the master cylinder seals are installed with the exact orientation as the original part, and do not insert a screw driver or anything else into the master cylinder that could scar or scrape the master cylinder. After confirming I performed the installation correctly, I bled the brake line and my brakes now work like new again.
