Bought to stop oil leaking into and through my air cleaner on a stock 2006 Sportster 1200L. This does NOT fit with the stock air box. Had to then buy a new air cleaner and support bracket. Very well made though and a good product as long as it fits.

The only time you really need a breather kit such as this one is in the instance you're going from a stock air cleaner to that of an aftermarket item that doesn't include a breather provision. That is to say, many kits do include the requisite breather plumbing, which needs to be there since the OEM air cleaner integrates that functionality into its design.
So, if your bike is stock, there's no need, but if you're going for an aftermarket air cleaner, and it doesn't come with breather bolts or plumbing of that type, then yes, you'd need a crankcase breather kit such as this one.
