This pump does not utilize an O-ring at the face of the pump where it mates to the camplate. It includes four new screws, you are not to reuse the original screws from the factory HD oil pump. Provided your cam plate has a smooth blemish-free surface, you would have no issue with sealing of this pump, it is designed to seal with a perfectly machined surface. You would still need an O-ring where it mates into the crankcases, it is not included with this pump.

The Drag Specialties Road King high-performance oil pump is machined flat to work with the stock cam plate without the o-ring. Provided there was not a bearing failure to cause damage to the Road King's cam plate, you should have no problem installing this in your machine. The included installation instructions clearly explain everything you need to know in order to properly install this oil pump.

This oil pump does include check valves and springs, just like the stock 2002 FLSTS oil pump - to prevent wet sumping. With any check valve or oil pump, over time the spring may weaken and cause wet sumping, so you should replace those parts at intervals as recommended by the service manual. Another helpful thing to do if the bike has been sitting for a while, is to check engine oil level after the engine is at operating temperature since non-use can also cause wet sumping.
