Trail Tech Vapor Digital Gauge Computer Kit

The Vapor motorcycle speedometer's main feature is a large, well lit RPM tachometer graph. The Vapor is useful as a motorcycle, ATV or SxS speedometer. The Vapor's large digital tachometer bar graph is easy to read. The digital gauge has many other useful features like time keeping, engine temperature, resettable distance, and odometer. The Vapor's tachometer shift lights and temperature lights are great to warn about potential mechanical problems while there is still time to react. The built in stop watch and hour meter is perfect for race training. The adjustable distance setting can be used on those tough Enduro courses.

The Vapor is enough to replace an entire instrument cluster on your dashboard. Speed, time, distance and tach - The Vapor has it covered. If indicator lights are required for dual-sport and supermoto road ready bikes, the Vapor is available with a stylish indicator dashboard accessory. If rougher treatment is expected, the Vapor speedo has a full line of model-specific aluminum billet guards and protectors for motocross, Enduro, rallies, and trials.

A combined effort from experts in software, electronics, and mechanical design - each feature of this 4th generation product is carefully crafted and constructed with the offroad enthusiast in mind.

Customer Reviews

Works great but draws a bit too much power on smaller bikes

By Tristin B. on  Verified Purchaser

It works good but I have it on my 1999 yz125 and the stator on it is a bit worn out so once the bike it warm it and you shut it off it won't start back up unless it cools down or you unplug the power wire from the trail tech, so that's a bummer and something to keep in mind if you can't get your bike started after installing but it works great and definitely recommend on a bigger bike.

Thanks

By Alan E. on  Verified Purchaser

Time will tell if it holds up but it looks good so far. The setup instructions for the tach settings could be more detailed but fortunately I was able to find info on the web.

Trail Tech Vapor

By Chase W. on  Verified Purchaser

Was simple and easy just as instructed.

Easy to install

By Mike C. on  Verified Purchaser

Love it.

Trail Tech Computer

By David B. on  Verified Purchaser

I would buy another one. Got wrong information on hooking up the tach wire the first time.

Vapor

By Cedric R. on  Verified Purchaser

Pretty happy with the item. It was actually pretty easy to install. The only problem is lighting for the screen started to act up a after a couple of days.

Buy this is you need a speedo and anything else on your quad

By Zachary B. on  Verified Purchaser

Great product, bought for my 2003 Yamaha raptor and it was super easy to install, and comes with all the instructions you will need and they are easy to follow, defiantly recommend this product.

Very Nice Unit

By Huy on

Purchased this Trail-Tech Computer to keep track of specs that I couldn't before, such as temperature and RPMs to give me better insight into my bike in case something was going wrong on the trail. Price was reasonable for what it is, and fit my needs perfectly.

Questions & Answers

Is the mph derived from GPS or the bikes mechanics?

By Gary

This unit has absolutely no GPS functionality. It uses a wheel speed sensor to display speed. If you're after a Trail Tech with GPS mapping, take a look at the Trail Tech Voyager Pro GPS Computer Kit. That unit can be setup to display speed either, via wheel speed or GPS signal. Admittedly. the GPS signal isn't that great for showing speed since it's only updated, at most, every second on the Voyager Pro version.

By Tom

What are the measurements of the unit?

By Gary

The LCD instrument itself measures 4.2" wide x 2.3" tall and a smidge under one inch thick.

By Tom

How would I mount this on my 2001 Suzuki Bandit 600 S? Do you guys sell a kit for this, or does it come with it?

By Andrew S

Every one of these kits comes with a set of handlebar clamps that you can use to affix the instrument to your machine. It'll be fitted in the middle, right above the triple clamps. You don't need to purchase anything else to fit this to your Suzuki, or any other machine for which they're listed to fit.

By Tom

Do you make a kit for 2024 Yamaha raptor 700r

By Tris

Yes, if you were to select the 2024 Yamaha Raptor 700R Trail Tech Vapor instrument from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct parts to fit your machine.

By Tom

Is this backlit for night time use?

By Chris

Yes, absolutely. Every Trail Tech Vapor motorcycle computer has a backlit LCD display so you can easily view this instrument during nighttime operations.

By Tom

Do they make the metal housing protector for this model?

By T M.

Yes, there is protector available for that Vapor computer. If you search our website for Trail Tech Vapor/Striker Protector Mount, it will pop right up for you.

By Andy

Will this work with a bike that has no battery?

By Paul

XR400R has lights but they all run on the direct power (flywheel) only when the bike is running.

Yes, as it has it's own battery.

By Andy

Does this have its own battery

By Aaron

I’m trying to add to my yz426f and I don’t have a battery on bike. Does the computer have its own separate battery

Yes, this unit does have it's own battery.

By Andy

is the installation on a 2012 wr250r easy?

By Stirrat

If you're comfortable with things like doing an oil change, servicing the clutch or installing handgaurds on your bike, adding this kit to your machine isn't really that difficult. No special tools are required and most guys get it done within two or three hours at most. Just take your time and follow the well-written instructions that come with each kit. Everything you need comes in the box, as far as parts are concerned. Just be sure to carefully route the wiring for all sensors in an effort to keep them away from the exhaust and other moving parts and you can expect years of reliable use out of the device.

Can the temp sensor work with an air cooled engine

By LogDog

Trail Tech's computers are designed to work with any of the machines you see in our fit guide. In the case of air-cooled models, the temp sensor fits under the spark plug. It's a simple, but clever way of getting an accurate reading.
