The S&S Complete Chain Drive Cam Chest Kit removes any doubt about the condition of the critical parts in the cam chest of your Harley-Davidson big twin. Replace it all; oil pump, cam support plate, cams, and tappets with premium US-made S&S cam chest components. Upgrade to an S&S chain drive performance cam set for improved engine performance, higher lift and optimized cam timing.

It performs great. It sounds great. After I installed it, I found out that New York City has a noise level restriction. The S&S cam raises the noise decibel 2 to 3 Decibel past the city limits. S&S should lobby to raise the acceptable noise decibels to allow the S&S 475 cam to be excepted in New York.

I have a 2006 Night Train Injected with V&H radius duals. Will I need a tuner to run this kit

Yes, you'll most certainly need to have your bike tuned if you expect to get the most out of this, or any other, cam chest kit we carry. For your particular needs, we recommend a Dynojet Power Vision and a trip to a competent dyno tuner. You will need a custom map built in order to truly benefit from the additional power that the cam chest is capable of delivering. Something like an FP4 from Vance & Hines or anything with an auto-tune function really isn't capable of handling the fuel map changes required, so please don't short yourself on getting set up the right way and go with a Power Vision and the requisite time on the dyno.

I have a 2017 street glide special with a chrome works 2 into 1 thunder max tuner and a high flow air filter . Looking for low end power and good pull all the way through leaning towards the 475 cam kit with cam chest, oil pumps, cam, push rods lifters ect. Good all around choice ? Do a lot of back road riding and also decent amount of highway rippin. Thoughts ??

Matched to a properly-developed fuel map, really, either the .462 or .475 grind is going to be of a noticeable improvement in all riding conditions. And you certainly have the capability with the Thunder Max tuner on your bike, that device will certainly be more than up to the task of delivering fuel correctly. The .462 will provides good bottom end while the .475 kit will really provide better gains 2800RPM+ So me, for mostly highway riding, .475 grind. For more stop/go riding, the .462 is probably the better choice. No matter what, they'll both be better than stock!

2021 SGS 114 what kit works best

I currently have 450 V&H Torquer slip-on, V&H VOX2 Air intake and FP4. I am not getting the sharp sound I am looking for and would like to get more torque on the get go. My mechanic is recommending the S&S 475C kit but I am not sure if that may be too much for what I am looking for. Are there other kits that would suit what I am looking for? I ride 60-80 in the city and your ocasional weekend 2-4 trip. Though looking to do more touring in the near future

To break it down as simply as possible, really, for your needs, the .462" lift kit is really nice for touring bike applications. Just keep in mind that all of these kits, obviously, will get you way better performance than stock. Considering the fact you've got the right tuner, making the upgrade will be pretty straightforward from a tuning standpoint, too.

I have a 2003 FXDL. Does this kit come with the inner cam bearings or the tappet cover gaskets or do they need to be purchased separately?

Although they're not shown, yes, new inner cam bearings are included with these kits for Twin Cam models.

Yes, all S&S cam chest kits come with well-written and easy-to-follow instructions. They make installation a lot easier by taking all of the guesswork out of measurements, order of operations &etc. They're really good!

Crank runout tolerance?

What's the max crankshaft runout this cam plate can handle?

For chain-driven cams, such as this one, there's no max runout since the cam chain itself or really, the tensioner; takes out the slack. Now, if you're talking about a gear-driven cam kit, that's where the number matters since the engine is going gear-to-gear. In those setups, 003" is the most you'd want to see.

Will this kit work on a 2019 lowrider fxlr stock valve springs?

In the case of the 2019 Harley Davidson FXLR Softail Low Rider, yes, it will indeed work with the OEM valve springs. It's only when you go over the 0.475" valve lift that you get into aftermarket valve spring territory. This cam chest in particular, regardless of the valve lift you choose, is designed specifically to work with the remaining OEM engine components that are not included in the kit.

Do you offer a higher torque cam to go with this kit

2023 flhtk 114 M8 full dual exhaust HP full flow Air Filter upgrades. Looking to re-gain some of my lost bottom end.

As you'll see, once you select your machine from our fit guide, the biggest cams you can get with this kit have a .475" lift. That'll get you over 100HP, easily, with a proper tune and your bike's current configuration. If you're looking for more power down low, your best bet would be an S&S cam chest kit without cams and then maybe something like an S&S 550 cam to go with it. Again, a proper tune is required if you expect to get the most out of any change in engine configuration.

I have a 2016 ultra limited!

Will this kit work for the 103? Will I have to change anything else? I want to be able to rip out of the hole and just cruise at times!

I think you'll find the 2016 Harley Davidson FLHTK Electra Glide Ultra Limited cam chest kit from S&S more than suitable for your needs. Other than a proper tuner, we recommend a Vance & Hines FP4, everything you need to fit this kit to your bike is in the box. Gaskets, assembly lube, all of the parts you'd need are in the box. All you gotta do is follow the included instructions carefully and you'll really appreciate the power this kit has for you!

I'm interested in this kit for my 2007 road glide. It has the SE stage 4 103. Will I need new valve springs? I'm looking for a solid kit with great reliability.

Generally speaking, with Twin Cam engines, if you're bumping valve lift to something greater than .551"  then yes, you'll want to add a set of high-performance valve springs to your build. Of course, since this is an S&S kit, we recommend the S&S Valve Spring Kit to go along with it. Those two items together will help you get the most out of that build you've got going and keep up with the reliability aspect that you're looking for.

Would this be a good fit on a stock 2017 flhtkl electra glide ultra limited low?

In a word, YES. Regardless of how much valve lift you were to choose, 462" or 475" - when properly tuned, you'll find the engine much more responsive at all power settings and, of course, it'll be more powerful. Choose the .465 kit if you're more interested in cruising over longer distances as it puts most of the bump in power where you'll want it - at cruising speeds. If you're more interested in ripping away from the lights than cruising, choose the .475 kit instead. Either way, again - you'll be glad you did since, no matter what, you'll really wake up that engine!

Yes, absolutely. S&S cam chest kits are designed to work with any exhaust that fits the bike in its stock configuration. These components don't change any of the engine's outside dimensions. Now, if you're asking about performance, that too, won't be an issue. In fact, adding an aftermarket pipe is probably the best thing you can do to get the most out of these engine kits. When tuned correctly, they make good power when matched with a good exhaust!

How does this cam do with stock heads and springs, will I have to update my throttle body or intake manifold

These cam chest kits will certainly work with all of the OEM valvetrain and intake components, with exception to the valve springs themselves in certain circumstances. And that varies based on engine type. If you're putting this in an M8 engine and using a kit with a valve lift greater than .540 in. or a Twin Cam with lift greater than .551 in., then you will need to use high-performance valve springs if you expect the engine to last, or run well at higher RPMs. In other words, so long as the cams aren't too bumpy, yes - these will work with all of the stock Harley-Davidson engine parts and intake components on any machine you select from our fit guide.

Yes, the .465 lift cam for Milwaukee Eight engines are highly recommended for touring applications. S&S refers to that profile as "ideal for touring applications" in their own literature. The reason being: good bumps throughout the entire RPM range without having too aggressive of a profile which could make throttle response at cruising speeds less than ideal. For long-range cruising, yes - go with the .465 Milwaukee Eight Touring cams!

Will these cams work with stock springs

It really depends on how much valve lift you choose, and the engine type - Twin Cam or Milwaukee Eight, also play into that. In the case of Milwaukee Eight engines, valve lifts of .540 in. and up require heavy-duty springs. For Twin Cam engines, valve lifts of .551 require heavy-duty valve springs.
