Dunlop D401 Cruiser/Touring Tire

By wMd876 on  Verified Purchaser

I had been looking for this tire the last several weeks at all the major sites and nobody had one. I was somewhat concerned that someone had just come across an old one in the warehouse. I immediately checked the date code and it had been made only 2 weeks prior. Wow never had one that fresh before. It balanced up with very little weight. Just what I needed for 4000+ mile trip later in fall.

Questions & Answers

Our back tire is a 71 H but I can only find 77H will this maje a difference?

By Anon.

The numbers refer to the tire's load index - how much it can safely handle at the speed rating indicated (the letter H in your question). The higher the number, the more weight the tire can safely handle and, the further down the alphabet the letter, the higher the speed the tire can safely handle at the load indicted. So, 71H means the tire's rated to safely handle 760 lbs. at 130 mp/h. 77H means the tire's rated to safely handle 980 lbs. at 130 mp/h. Of course, the tires must be the same size to fit, but otherwise, you always want a tire with a load/speed rating that's at least as high as what's currently on your bike. The 77H-rated tire certainly meets that qualification.
