Why would I need a 2.0kW verses a 1.2kW starter? What's the difference in application?

If you've got a high-compression motor or a big bore kit, then the 2.0kW starter is certainly a good option. If the engine's stock, then go for the 1.2kW setup. The stronger starter turns over built engines more reliably.
