Can't say much for quality as it has not been installed yet. Putting the electrolyte in was a seamless process and charged it up without any issues. We will see how long it holds charge.

Without having your machine here to examine, it's difficult to determine what, exactly, is causing your problem. The OEM battery should be more than enough to turn over the stock engine, at least. The cause, could be, that the battery itself is on its way out. A battery load tester would be the only reliable way to make that determination. So, before moving forward, we recommend you check that the battery you have on your bike is in good nick. If not, replacing that might solve your problem. Assuming the battery is in good order, it could be that your starter motor is on its way out, not so much that the battery is weak. The only way to figure that out is to test the starter motor itself using the voltage drop test as specified in your machine's service manual. If you don't have a service, a Cylmer Service Manual will explain exactly how to run that test. Now, if the starter passes the voltage drop test and you've done some engine work: bumped compression, installed bigger cams &etc., then the OEM starter is certainly going to be under a bit of strain trying to turn that engine over and the only way to solve that would be to replace the OEM 1.4kW-rated starter with something bigger. We recommend, in least to most powerful: Terry Components 1.5kW Starter Motor Compu-Fire 1.6kW Starter Motor Terry Components Slugger 1.8kW High-Torque Starter Motor

If you were to select the 2004 Harley Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic battery from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct part to fit your bike. Its chassis is the same size as the OEM YTX20HL-BSFT battery that it replaces.

Or is it the style where you put the stud in the battery and slide the wire ends from the bike onto it then use a nut to secure them ?
The 1990 Harley Davidson XLH883 Sportster 883 battery uses the former type in your question - square retainers reside within the battery terminals and you'll need to send a bolt through the battery wire to get things wired up.

That's correct, the battery comes with an acid pack that you need to add before installing it on your bike. It's a really simple process as there's no measuring required, you don't even need to pour it in - just push the pre-measured, sealed acid pack into the top of the battery and let it fill. After that, you remove the empty acid pack, seal the battery using the included strip and you're all set. When done correctly, there's no worry of spillage as there's nothing left over. The included instructions explain exactly how to go about filling the battery.
