Won't fit a 74 XL250 without mods.

This will not fit a 1974 Honda XL250. It fits the output shaft, but the chain will not fit down on the sprocket. The chain hits the engine case. The case would have to be ground away all the way to the output seal. Probably not a good idea. Maybe a spacer between the housing and the sprocket, and use an E-Ring retainer on the shaft instead of the stock retainer and bolts. Haven't tried that yet. Going to order a 14 tooth and a 50 or 51 rear sprocket to get close to the ratio I want.

Once you select the 2007 Honda CRF250X 4-Stroke from our fit guide, you'll be given the choice of 12T, 13T and 14T sprockets for that machine. As you've noted, yes, that particular bike came from the factory with a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket. Just choose the 14T unit from our fit guide and you'll be all set.
